James Alfred was born on 2/22 at 3:05 a.m. Weighing in at 7 lbs, 4 oz. and 19.5" long, he came out sporting this hilarious faux hawk:
My water broke unexpectedly on Friday morning at 38 weeks, 2 days, but I wasn't having any contractions. We headed to the hospital and were admitted at 2 cm dilated. I was making very little progress, so they put me on Pitocin around 3 p.m. when I was only at 3 cm. Luckily, that helped move things along. I got an epidural around 9 p.m. (at 6 cm). I had always planned to get one and the relief was so nice. I was ready to push around 1:45 a.m. and the rest is history. I feel really fortunate that all went smoothly (only a very minor tear) and I feel great right now. Despite having daytime and nighttime confused, and being treated for jaundice, James is awesome.
