I'm still reading Murder on a Midsummer Night. It's been a slow start to the year for me, only 5 books so far, but now that we're back on schedule, I hope I can get back into my reading routine.
QOTW: My mother would want Myrna Loy, but that may be difficult as Myrna Loy is dead. But I'd pick Kathleen Turner to play my Mom.
I'm reading Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. I'm enjoying it. It's # 17 for the year.
Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my coworkers. In September I left the office to work from home, and I haven't seen them since then, so it'll be nice to catch up. I borrowed The King's Speech from the library so my H and I will watch that at some point. Sunday I'm planning to watch the Oscars.

I'm reading the fifth book in the Mage Born series by Michael Manning. I think this is the last one in the series. It has been very interesting to watch an author get better. There is a huge difference between his first self-published book (first in this series) and this one.
I am also reading a couple of other books but primarily the one above. I have no idea what number it is for the year. I'm sure it's low.
I am reading the Night trilogy by Elie Weisel (it's about the Holocaust and published as one book in 3 parts). It was recommended to me a long time ago, maybe even on here, and I picked it up when I saw it at my local used book store and let it languish on my shelf forever. It's really well written, but also utterly depressing. I think I will manage to finish since it's not that long, and I'm sure I will be better for having read it, but did I mention how sad it is?
QOTW - I have absolutely no idea. How about: nobody could replace my Mom!

OMG, yes! I read this in high school as part of a class on the Holocaust. I think the only reason I got through it was that I was almost numb from the horror at that point. Just a heartbreaking book.
I'm about 20% through Eleanor and Park. I'm enjoying it and it's flashbacks to my youth, but it's a young adult book and the heroine has a very difficult family life. It got me thinking, when I was a kid, I don't think any young adult books dwelled on that kind of thing. You might have some character sent to Grandma's house because Mom died, but then they found a mythical horse or best friend and adventures and all was happy and good.
As for the QOTW ... Back in the day, my sister and I thought Kate Jackson (in her "Scarecrow and the King" days) was Mom's doppleganger.
A Darkness Strange and Lovely, which is a sequel to Something Strange and Deadly (YA, semi-steampunk, semi-zombie). It's not as good as the first one so far, which I would have given 3.5 stars to out of 5. But she's also a relatively new author. Certainly better than many YA novels I've read. It's quick for the length and entertaining. I'm about 1/3 of the way through.

I'm finally managing to read a little now that LO is going to bed earlier, but still only very light books. This week I read Soulless by Gail Carriger - which was mediocre, but imaginative steampunk/urban fantasy/romance. Not worth it unless you like all three genres. Now I'm reading the 19th Stephanie Plum book - again not great literature, but it's making me laugh out loud. I think it's only my 4th of the series and they were all read at long intervals so the repetitive jokes hvaen't gotten old yet.
QOTW - Shirley McClaine - or maybe she would be my grandma.
I just downloaded Where'd you Go Bernadette, I haven't even read a page yet. I just finished Eleanor & Park, I enjoyed it, just not as much as I thought I would.
I just finished The World Inside and am still working my way though Requiem and The Ocean at the End of the Lane for my IRL book club. Blah so far this year hasn't been the greatest for reading. On the plus side today is my DD's second birthday and we're having the party tomorrow:)
It, by Stephen King. I think it's been 20 years since I read it last and I'm catching references I missed before. Not just pop culture and politics, but there are lots of references to other King books. Mostly Dark Tower stuff. Dick Hallorran from The Shining makes an appearance. I'm tearing through it. I haven't read a book this quickly in a very long time.
QOTD: I have no idea who should play my mom. Maybe Sally Fields because they're both short?
I'm behind! We just got back from vacation, and vacation w/ little kids is not real conducive to reading. I'm still reading Lady Elizabeth and I started rereading Voyager (outlander #3). Hope to finish LE this weekend.
I was reading Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Demick. I really liked that book. I finished it yesterday. It was appalling to read about what goes on in that country. I had seen Lisa Ling's documentary a few years back and had an idea of what went on but reading this gave me an even deeper understanding and look into their sad and oppressed lives.
I did nothing exciting. Got a Kindle Paperwhite! Yay.
