Favorite: a re-read of Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter Least favorite: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. I didn't really dislike it, but it just wasn't quite on for me.
Honorable mention for creating the most conflicted feelings: The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanigahara. I still can't decide how I feel about that book.

The Olympics and two failed book choices played havoc with my reading this month. I finished only one book, Murder in the Dark. It was enjoyable, but not one of the best of the series.
The Little Girls could not hold my interest long enough for me to make a determination about whether I would have enjoyed it or not. The Stockholm Octavo was interesting, but sloggy and I got very frustrated with it, so I have set it aside for later, when I may be in a better state of mind to finish it.
Best: HP and the Deathly Hallows (first time reading it) and Champion by Marie Lu (5 stars) Worst: Angel Falls by Kristin Hannah (3.5 stars- I still enjoyed this one, it's just my lowest rated for the month)

I didn't remember that you were a first-time HP reader! So glad you enjoyed it (or at least enjoyed Deathly Hallows). It's such an awesome series if you're the "serial re-reader" variety - I pick up one of those when I feel like I need to spend time with an old friend.
Back to the OP, since I only finished 3 books this month it's not much of a competition.
Best: And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini Worst: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffeger - something about this one just rubbed me the wrong way. (I started to type out why but then realized I'm not sure if spoilers are allowed in these threads!)

I loved the series! I had read it free through amazon prime (so one book per month over 7 months!). Immediately afterwards, I bought myself the hardcover set! lol. Can't wait to read it again. =)

I bought myself the paperback set (after reading the original via library e-book). My ILs gave me B&N GC for Christmas, and I'm a Kindle user, so it was the best use of free money. And now DS and I are reading them together (well, I mostly read to him, which is funny when I try to speak like Hagrid, lol).
Best: The Valley of Amazement Worst: Insurgent (Divergent #2)
I credit Insurgent with the crappy book count of books read for February. it took me two weeks to get through. I struggled with that one. It was so boring!!

You had better patience than I did. I managed to wait a week after book 5 came out to read it (borrowed it from a friend after she finished; only later bought my own copy), then pre-ordered books 6 and 7. 6 I read over the course of a week right when it came out, but 7 I read in a day, not letting anything distract me!

If you think Insurgent is bad, don't even go near Allegiant. DON'T DO IT!
I thought Divergent was eh, kinda boring but everyone seemed to love it... Then read Insurgent which I thought was pretty bad, but not the worst thing I've ever read. I've said this before but Allegiant makes any of the Twilight books look like literature. By a long shot, the worst thing I've ever read. Period.
I have heard this from others as well. Then I hear the series is amazing. No. I didn't care much for Divergent either but decided why not try the second one and then the third and finish the series. I don't think I can do it. I list it up there with A Discovery of Witches as bad bad bad never ever recommend to anyone books.
I'm glad to read the feedback on here about the Divergent series, so thanks, itsme and moreace01 - seems like there was a lot of hype initially but that the series didn't live up to it. I guess I'll cross that series off my list!

Did not live up at all. I haven't read the third one.
