N latched onto Francesca around age 3. Before that I remember her being SUPER attached to the wooden toy bananas from her kitchen. She had to have one in each hand or she wouldn't sleep. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when she finally wanted to snuggle something soft.
E just recently (like, the past few months) latched onto Francine. But this time last year, when she was just over 2, life started and stopped around Baby Elmo and Blue Thomas (like, the metal train). My kids have a strange obsession with snuggling cold hard objects in early childhood. Remind me to remind them of this when they go to their first therapy appointments in 15-20 years, lol.
Grant doesn't like anything really. He sleeps with a stuffed walrus "Wally" in his crib, but doesn't snuggle him or anything, and has 2 blankets, one of my soft baby blankets and one my mom made him. But he doesn't care if they are in the wash to use something else.
Eta: actually, we just gave him a small pillow. One I sewed when I was around 10 out of fabric with cats all over it. And he LOVES that pillow. He cuddles it, plays with it, sleeps GREAT with it. Maybe a girly kitten pillow will become his lovey.
