C is 2.5 and still doesn't have any particular attachment to one. She just rotates what she like to have go to bed with her but it's not consistent. Currently we take a duckie family up with us.
I can't remember if it starts at age 3 or 4 more
And was lovie called security blanket when you were a kid, too? Is lovie the PC term?
For all 3 of my kids it was before (or right around) a year old.
When I was a kid my mom called my brother and sister's blanket a "woobie." So I guess that was their word for security blanket. I don't think I had a security item when I was little.

DD started becoming attached to one specific blanket when she was around 1. She's 4 now and she still has to sleep with it every night and at least know where it is at all times during the day.
Right around 10 months. The love has not faded yet @ almost 2.5 ( although he plays with other toys more now, for awhile his lovey was also his favorite play time toy.
Sofia started around 18 months. I bought her tiger when she was 14 months and she didn't care for it for a long time, then one day she just wouldn't go anywhere without him. Theo's not really attached to anything yet. Well, maybe blankets a little bit. He needs to sleep wrapped in a blanket, but he doesn't carry them around or anything.
Em has a lion she's started to become attached to - it started in the store. I gave it to her because she was getting antsy and then I had to buy it - she screamed if I tried to take it away. It was kinda cute though, when we walked by a person she would shout "HI! SEEEEEEE!!!" And shove the lion at them.
She now carries it around the house, sleeps with it, and gives it hugs/kisses. Call it's "yay-on".
Hmm. It would be kind of nice if we skipped it! Rupert - did that age correspond with your big move? (You told me about a big move, right? Or am I hallucinating?)
We tried to pick an object we could replace but them she didn't have interest and we didn't push it.
Edith's lovie love started at around 2. We went to visit my brother and cousins in Kansas, and brought Fuzzy, and she attached to him in the hotel the first night.
I was wondering the same thing. DS1 doesn't have one & doesn't seem to care. He likes to have something to sleep with, but it doesn't matter what it is.
DS2 is only 6 months, no attachment yet. He loves those Taggie toys and blankets, though.
I'm kind of hoping that he doesn't get attached to anything in particular. I never really had anything in particular, but my sister did. One of my strongest (& worst) childhood memories was the night that someone stole my sister's dog from my mom's work. Even as a little kid, I felt absolutely terrible for her. She got a replacement, and he still sits on her bed at my parents' house, but it never was the same.
Neither of my kids showed a real preference for a specific soft toy until age 3. DS 1 (6.5) is still incredibly attached to his teddy bear, while DS 2 (3.5) only needs his teddy occasionally.
Alex hasn't had too much interest in anything like that. She has toys she prefers, but a teapot isn't a lovie lol
I'm kinda pushing this little alligator doll. I put it in the corner of her crib to see if she would show interest. Nothing too crazy yet, mostly just something to do when she wakes up.
L became obsessed around 10 months and still takes Winston the bear everywhere. Except to school, since no "aminals" are allowed in the preschool classes.

Watch, kid 2 will be obsessed, won't he?
Lol, no. I am just a weirdo.
We are about to do a big move, I talked about that in your previous thread. My stuffed animal will be coming with us.
I think my girls were around 2. I'm pretty sure Em was a little older than that, and Kate was a bit younger. I wasn't surprised by the baby doll Em ultimately latched on to, but Kate's dog came out of nowhere.

Gotcha. Yup, prob just a weirdo then. Haha. I got mine when I was 4, nearly 5. He was at our wedding. He's a very worn, now creepy looking koala. Kiddo got super excited when she spotted him in a closet. (Yes, I feel horrible but at nearly 40 yrs old, he has moved to the closet). I let her cuddle him but took him away. She can play w him when she gets older if she wants.
Oh ad my koala has traveled around Australia and been on all kinds of trips. My family always wanted me to write a kid book series about Rudolph's adventures.
I have to lovey from when I was a baby (Lolly Doll) on a shelf in Alex's room. It's so close to falling apart I can't let her near it. I had a pound puppy Spotty that I let her near but she kept trying to pull his one remaining eye off, so I took him away too. Mean mom.
I slept with my puppy through high school. Lol. My sister actually snuck him inky a suitcase when I went away to college.

DD is 6 and has never had a specific toy or blanket she loves and has to have. She has a favorite at any given moment, but it is never the same.
DS has been head over heels attached to his angel dear monster since he was itty bitty. Addison gave it to him the first day we came home from the hospital and he has loved that thing ever since. He was just a few weeks old and would rub it in his little fist. He carries if everywhere and he will bring it to you and say nigh, nigh when he is tired now; he is almost 18 months. We have already lost one and have two in an every other week rotation to wear evenly.
Hart went through phases until he was around 18 months and then Blue Beary became his fav. He's since added one of my childhood blankies to his favs as well.
He'll rotate every now and then when he picks up another toy, but Blue Beary is his favorite. He have back ups - learned the hard way :/
