- right before bedtime DD went to her room and found a toy football. She told me she needs to "practice her throws". Uh, okay. -we recently got a new employee at work. My friend, who will be his supervisor, told me that before he started our boss told her a little about him. She started with "he's foreign", which is a weird way to describe a new employee, but what magical foreign land is he from? Canada. I'm guessing his Canadian-ness will not interfere with his acclimating to American life. Sadly this is par for the course with my boss. - I really want a drink, but we ran out if alcohol except for really bad beer which just isn't doing it for me
ETA: D'oh! How did I not see the other randoms thread that was already started? Oh well.
I just made the tastiest frosting. I wanted just a simple vanilla buttercream. I used half butter and half...wait for it...melted vanilla ice cream. ! After all the conf sugar was added I whipped it on high for a while so it's light and fluffy and super duper vanilla-y!
I'm just rolling my eyes at DH as he watches one of his shows. He has a degree in biology, yet he believes in every alien/ghost story on tv. He truly, truly thought the world would end on 12/21/12. He is brilliantly book smart but then falls for these dumb shows on tv.

We just started watching The Americans and so far I really like it. Guess I know what I'm binge-watching this weekend (binge-watching shows is probably one of my all-time favorite activities).
I really don't want any more snow days, since we have to make all of them up, but I wouldn't mind one more on Monday (we're getting a bunch of snow Sunday). I could use the extra day off to catch up on my essay grading.
I was hoping to hear from a company whom I interviewed with regarding a position I want. They said they'd call by Friday and let me know one way or the other. Or by Wednesday of next week.
I hate waiting for those calls. It's going to be a long weekend.
On the other hand, I'm excited my sourdough bread starter is going nuts. I'll be making fresh sourdough bread this weekend! If we really do get snow/ice on Sunday, I'll surprise my H with homemade cinnamon rolls, not from a can. Ooh la la!
I'm about to eat a piece of chocolate cake and have some hot tea.
I'm really excited for our hair appointment tomorrow. I think I'm going to see if she can put a streak of pink in dd's hair and do some of my bottom layers in pink.
My office is hosting our annual Ice Festival tomorrow. We run snow making machines and build a huge tobogan run and some smaller sledding hills for the little kids. And we have ice carvers come and all kinds of other stuff. It's so fun and I'm really hoping dd and I can go for a bit after we get our hair done!
I just watched "Enough Said" with James Gandolfini and Julia Louis Dreyfuss. It was really sweet. It also makes me said about James Gandolfini dying. He was great in this movie and completely against type.

DD1 has a twirling competition early tomorrow morning, but she couldn't find her leotard or baton. Oy, kid. I'll probably help her look in the morning and it will most likely be under her bed, even though she swears she already looked there.
