I think whatever works, just go with it. My DS has a sound machine in his room set to ocean waves. He might be playing and rowdy but the second I turn the light off and turn the sound on he starts yawning and rubbing his eyes. He's asleep within minutes.
They will have to pry the sound machine out of my cold dead hands.

What kind of music do you play at night? I don't think it's bad for the child - I'm just curious to know what your baby falls asleep to. My fingers are crossed that it's the ACDC Back in Black Album

Yep. I pretty much have DS conditioned to chill as soon as the lights go out and the Sleep Sheep turns on.
I think it's fine. But I'm an advocate for noise when the baby sleeps, and not just white noise. When KHC was a baby, his nursery was right next to the kitchen and living room, and as a result he learned to sleep through freaking ANYTHING.
Ditto. We just do our usual activities, have from the start. I didn't want a kid that needed total quiet to sleep.
He does, however, appear to need total darkness which can be a PITA travelling.
