I don't even want to talk about how many days in a row Lu has worn her rain boots. To all occasions.
this is noah and his batman shirt. he'll dig in the hamper for it, cry for it. so, i either give in and let him wear a dirty shirt to daycare, or i choose to listen to 30-45min of fucking crying and whining the entire time getting him ready/breakfast/drive to daycare.
guess what i pick.
David had this fire truck shirt that lit up. OMG, he wore that thing for two years. By the time I retired it, it was two sizes too small and it was rags with holes all through it. He woud have worn that thing every day if I let him.
E has cowboy boots with a 1/2 inch heel, and I searched high and low for them because I'm anti-heels for little kids. I absolutely would not buy the linked shoes for my daughter (who will be six in a month) and she won't be wearing shoes with a heel until 10 or 12.
I guess I'm in the minority but I would not let my kid wear those to school until about 8. (Which is next week). She still plays tag or jump rope most days at recess. I see the 8&9 yo girls mostly just walking around at recess so that's when I would allow anything more than a flat shoe. I would allow a heel that high for non active events around 6--like going to the movies, etc.
I would not let my five year old wear them and I have no idea when I would find that appropriate. Huh. I hadn't realized that I was uptight about these things.
I wouldn't buy them. If I had a daughter, I'd wait until she's hit the age where's she has stopped running around, and playing so much - maybe middle school?
I know my SS was really rough on his shoes when he was younger - climbing, scooting, crawling, jumping.
My H was all WTF and I went back to my pearl clutching over the heel so the Gymbo bootie will be going back. However, my DD will still be pleased, because I also ordered her these:

My dd is close to your dd's age. With all the snow and melted run off, I look for boots with a heel to help keep pants dry. I'm fairly picky on what I put on my child: no spaghetti straps, stupid sayings on shirts, halter tops, short-shorts.
Not a parent here, but I wouldn't see an issue with the shoes in the OP for a 6 year old. I think they are cute and they look age-appropriate to me, even with a *slight* "heel."
However, if you do not want her wearing them every day, I agree it would be best to just not have them in the house until you are OK with her wearing them with more frequency.
I'd say 8 or so. I like the notion that there are things you just need to be older to have. Especially when the height of that heel, which looks to be over an inch, can affect foot/stride development. But I wouldn't look askance at a kid wearing them younger. Just not my thing.
This is all easy for me to say since my kid only only only wants to wear sneakers.
My daughter who is 6 has been wearing cowboy boots for at least two years. they have more of a heel then those. those heels are the same as you would find on a pair of dressy mary janes.

I wouldn't let her wear them every day (but I don't let my kids wear any shoes day in and day out...for the sake of their shoes and their feet) but unless my kid was pretty uncoordinated I don't see those as being problematic.
I am dreading the day my kid has an opinion on clothes and shoes. It's coming soon I think!
It is not pretty sometimes. My mom likes to make it known that she disagrees with my decision to let her make most of her own choices (weather appropriate) in regards to outfits. Sometimes it's embarrassing but she's so happy and proud of herself! And then I see the other girls in her class and they all look a little ridiculous so we're good
Eh. I feel like some styles of boots -- like cowboy boots or those rain boots that eb posted -- don't really count in the "heels for kids" category. They're relatively wide and sturdy and not stacked up high into platforms or anything.
My three-YO talked me into a pair of clearance cowboy boots at Target last week with about a one-inch heel. I'm okay with that.
I've gotten swede or leather winter boots each year for DD since she was 4yo from Stride Rite. They all have "heels" like that. I find it completely appropriate and not at all sexualized or hampered to her walking.
I wouldn't spend that on booties for my kid but they otherwise wouldn't bother me.
Mostly, and if it would do anything to her developing foot being raised/arched like that. Knowing her, she'd be wearing these shoes all day every day It's not a high heel for an adult by any means, but it's about an inch a half which I guess I think is high for a 5 year old.
But apparently I'm over thinking this!
non-parent here.
IMO you're not over thinking it. Do your research and decide for yourself.
My future kids will not be wearing heels unless it's for a special occasion. It won't be a daily or even weekly occurrence. Heels can cause kids to more easily sprain or fracture their feet & ankles and cause their still forming feet to form wrong leading to more problems down the road.
I know I'm in the minority, but I'd say no to those shoes for more reasons than just the price.
OP, the booties you bought are cute! I liked the first ones too. No issue for me, as long as she wouldn't be walking or playing in them for long stretches.
