She has fallen in love with the booties, but I told her no because she'll first be 6 in May and I don't think she's old enough for even a chunky heel. Just curious what others would have said!
My 5yo has a pair of boots that someone gave her and they have a heel just like that. She can walk in them just fine. I don't buy suede type material shoes for either of my girls though because they are too rough on shoes and they'd be destroyed the first time they were worn.
There is a difference between a high heel looking shoe for kids and boots. Most boots have some kind of heel. If I had a kid, I wouldn't have an issue with this and I wouldn't judge anyone else for letting their kid wear them.
I wouldn't spend that on booties for my kid but they otherwise wouldn't bother me.
Mostly, and if it would do anything to her developing foot being raised/arched like that. Knowing her, she'd be wearing these shoes all day every day It's not a high heel for an adult by any means, but it's about an inch a half which I guess I think is high for a 5 year old.
As a non mom, can a 5 year old really fall in love with shoes and remember them the next day?
and they are small boots not stiletto heels. i think they are adorable and would probably buy them for my neice if she asked.
Oh yes. Yes they can LOL She writes things on post its
She is almost 6.
I obviously know nothing about 5 year olds but it sound like I would set a kid up for a life time of disappointment .
Would she know the difference between those boots and the ON or other boots? maybe get her something in the same color that you are more comfortable with.

They remind me of cowboy boots. I think I wore cowboy boots when I was 4 or 5. My niece is 5 (going to be 6) and she wears cowboy boots. They were part of her halloween costume the year before last.
I think they are fine, but I'm not her mom so my opinion doesn't really matter. I don't know, could you have her try them on and then make your decision if you think the heel is too tall? Could you have a rule that if they hurt her feet she can't wear them? Or would either of those just set you up for tantrums?

No, she doesn't throw tantrums. She's very easy going. She might get upset over things but also understands that mom and dad's say goes. I just ordered them. I figure I can let her wear them around the house for a bit and if they're not a good fit or look ridiculous on her I'll take them back. I actually think they're very cute but wasn't sure she was old enough for them. I've been convinced!
I'm a non mom but I have arbitrary ideas about what constitutes appropriate kid wear. I feel that boot has a real heel and wouldn't allow it before 10ish. Maybe 8ish. I don't have a real reason why except the heel is too "grown" for my tastes. I wouldn't buy the shoes for my 5 yo but I probably wouldn't judge if I saw them on the street.

I'm not a mom and I didn't know if kind of offering the boots up would be a bad idea. That's why I asked about tantrums. It's great that she's a go with the flow kind of kid. I hope the boots work out, they are really cute.
I thought this was going to be about some sort of skanky stripper shoe sized down for little girls, at first. Those are super cute, and the age I would start letting them wear them would, probably, depend on how small they actually make them.
