Alright, so I lost my wedding band about a week ago and I'm on the search for a replacement. I want something simple in yellow or rose gold, with maybe some art deco etching or milgrain.
At the moment, I plan on wearing just a band alone, and wearing just my engagement ring alone on certain occasions. The engagement ring is art deco, platinum, with a few sapphire accents.
So let's just say I'd want to wear them together at some point in the future. Would a yellow or rose gold band be strange with the platinum? Anyone want to help me shop around for inspiration?
Bimbi - this is the only pic I could find of my wedding band with my ring.
I love that ring you pointed out - do y'all think rose/yellow would be odd?
See, I think based on the shape/style of your e-ring, wearing a band with it looks off to me. I think having a different metal would just draw more attention to that too . If you don't plan on ever wearing them together though, then I say just go with what you think works best for you for everyday use!
Mine also has little stones in it now that I look at it, but it has the leaf print kinda thing
Beautiful! I think in order for one to sit flush with my ring, it would need like a step cut detail. It's something I looked into when I bought my first ring, but I decided I'd want to wear it alone and it would look really strange haha.

Thanks! Yeah, I always wear mine together and never wear my band alone because it looks weird, haha.
My mom's band is really cool in that it sorta overlaps/crosses over for the rounded part of her e-ring, so it doesn't sit flush, but kind of "cushions" it. I'll try to find an example...

I initially felt the same way and actually didn't want a band in the first place but I got used to it eventually. This time around though, you're right it does look much better alone. I think that makes me want to go with rose gold, which I like the most with my skin tone. I'll just wear it alone and not with the e-ring. Problem solved!

Sorry to hear about your ring!!
I love your e-ring, but I think it's a little too busy for the mixed metals look. I don't dislike mixed metals, but it would detract from your ring.
I think with your e-ring I'd prefer a band made to sit with the ring. You wouldn't be able to wear it alone, but you could get the soldered together (mine are like that).
I then have a very simple band that I wear separately for gong on the boat or going to the beach or whatever.
I'm looking to add a nicer band that I can wear separately when I don't feel like wearing my e-ring too.
In summary to my essay - in a perfect world I'd get a band to fit your e-ring, a nicer band to wear alone and then a cheap-o band for beach/yard work stuff.
Karebear, I agree probably the best option (at least aesthetically) would be a made-to-fit wedding band. I don't think I'd want it soldered to my ring though.
I'll probably just get something as a stand in for the time being and when we're back in the states I'll invest some more time looking for something perfect to wear *with* my ering.
Here's an example of my mom's band. Don't judge, but I couldn't find a pic, so I drew it in Paint, lol.
The band is the bottom part, with the ering being the top square one.
This pic is hilarious..haha so cute!
OP- I would not get a band in rose gold for everday use. It will probably fade over time and need to be redipped. I also think yellow or rose gold would be way too much with that e-ring.
I agree that I wouldn't wear any band with your e-ring (which is gorgeous!!). If you want to wear the e-ring and a band at the same time, I'd wear the e-ring on your right hand and the band on your left, so would just get any band that you love.
OP: If you're wearing them separately, no problem with mixing the metals, but I think with the e-ring that it distracts from your ring. Which is gorgeous, btw!
Bimbi - my wedding band looks almost the same as yours! I don't know many people with curved bands, I love them. Even though you can't wear them separately, but I don't feel the desire to do that often so I don't worry about it.

Awesome! I don't know too many people with curved band either. The band that was supposed to come with my e-ring was actually pretty crappy, and didn't fit flush at all, so we ended up getting one made here in Chicago to match. I never even really considered a band that I would wear alone because I just love my e-ring so much, and I just like the look of them together! Maybe I'll get like an anniversary band or something some day, but for now I like wearing mine together.
