My new insurance that I will be able to take advantage of in a month will allow me to get long term BC at no cost. I'm super excited about not using BCP anymore. I was thinking of getting the Paraguard although I'm a bit terrified of the insertion process since I've never had a baby. I've also thought about the implant type but I'd like to get away from hormones if possible. I know that papie had Paraguard and got PG then unfortunately miscarried, but that was kind of a very rare occurance, not to downplay it but it's not extremely common to my knowledge. What are your thoughts and which would be the least invasive but better option?
I love my Paragard. The insertion was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. And it really only hurt for 30 seconds and then I had cramping the rest of the day. I was back to my regular routine (lifting included) the next day. Since I've never given birth, my doctor gave me a cervix-dilating medication the day before.
I don't have experience with the implant, so I can't speak to that.

How did it affect your monthly?
I went straight from the pill to Paragard, so my period is heavier than it was on the pill, but not any heavier than it was before I went on the pill. Some cramping, but again, I had that before going on the pill. The length of my period is the same (5 days), but the length of my overall cycle is a lot longer (35 days).
