Help a socially awkward girl out. My hairdresser and I get along really well and we have a lot in common.
I'd like to ask her to hang out but I don't want to make it really awkward or to make her feel obligated. She's mentioned that she doesn't really have many friends and I don't really either. So would it be weird?
Can you friend her on FB? Or just ask her at your next appointment if she wants to hang out sometime- maybe suggest something concrete, like "Hey, there's a great new bar around the corner, want to come grab a drink with me?"

Ok great, you guys rock! I thought I was probably overthinking it but I was just worried since part of her job is friendly conversation, so she's nice to everybody. I'm going for a haircut tonight so I'll give it a shot. Making friends as an adult is hard, yo!
It works best when you have an appointment at the end of the day, and you're all, "I am starving, and I'd love to get a beer. Would you like to come grab a bite with me?" People like happy hour and snacks. And if it's awkward, you keep it short and sweet. Maybe they already have plans, but you'll be able to tell by the reaction how receptive they are and whether or not you should try again.
