excursion ideas for Belize and Cozumel

I've spent all night looking at both ship and independent excursions and I can't decide.
We have a 7 year old son who will be cruising for the first time. He's never been to the beach, so we're trying for some beach time. We intend to spend the day in Roatan at the beach, so maybe the beach in Cozumel?
I was looking at cave tubing in Belize but the ruins also have me intrigued.
Any suggestions?

Cave tubing in Belize is very fun. It does however go complete darkness while you are in the middle of the caves, though you do have head lamps. I am thinking if a 7 year old might be afraid of the dark then it wouldn't probably be good for them. Otherwise though it's fantastic!

I would also look at snorkeling if your child is a good swimmer. The barrier reef is amazing and there is a lot to see!

In Cozumel I loved Chankanaab and with a 7 year old you can get a bit of everything--beach, snorkeling, dolphins, etc. www.cozumel-tours.com/chankanaab-park.htm
