When are you not allowed to have regular massages anymore? Is that from BFP or only once you're later?
Friends found a great TravelZoo deal, but the fine print says that the massage portion cannot be swapped for a pregnancy massage. I called and it'd be an extra $80 for the pregnancy massage. Bastards.
I had massages all throughout my pregnancies. At six weeks it wouldn't be a pg massage b/c you're probably still able to lay on your stomach. But, if you are concerned or aren't comfortable with it, don't do it.
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
I wasn't allowed during first tri, and after that they will do them and you get a special bed with a hole where you belly goes. I used to go just so I could lay on my stomach and be comfortable.
If you have an Aveeda spa near you, check out their pregnancy massages. When our place did them, you lay on these large bags (like giant hot water bottles) that are filled with warm water and there is no turning over, just on your back. People LOVED them.
I would tell them you were pregnant no matter how far along.
I had one at 37 weeks with my first kid, and it was heaven to be able to lay on the special table with my big ole belly in it. She wouldn't massage certain parts of me, but I was fine with that. Although I kinda wanted her to kick start some labor for me.
Funny note, the place was about an hour from my house and DH wasn't a fan of me going. And on the way home I started having contractions and I was having a panic attack that DH was right and I was going to have to call him and tell him I was in labor on the highway. they stopped later that night.
