The only spot you can't park is the designated wheelchair accessible spot. If there is a pregnant/new baby spot, it's nice to avoid that. Other than that, fuck them.
But just out of curiosity, exactly how did they give you shit? (I'm not doubting, more like rubbernecking.)

They told me that I couldn't park there because it was reserved. I asked if it was a handicapped spot and one said no that it was reserved for another mother.

I left the car where it was.
As you should have. That's some balls. First come, first serve.
Ugh, I'm sorry they're being that way. Some moms just suck.
I had a little of that last year w/ N's school and waiting outside the door for the kids to be let out. There was one mom who was just a straight up bitch, and would glare at me, roll her eyes, and then carry on as if I was a truly offensive presence in her dominion. So I decided to make a point of always talking to her. Like, every single time. My confidence was totally fake, but I channeled my inner sorority girl during rush season, smiled and did the whole "Hi! How ARE YOU today! OMG, they're making such cute little projects in there, so adorable! Gah, just look at them in their little circle on rugtime..." It worked, and the other moms started talking to me. Bitch never really did, and actively avoided eye contact, but whatever.
So go in there, and kill them with smiles and kindness. Don't let them rattle you.

Oh fuck them, seriously. Geeze. The worst clique of moms I ever had to deal with were kickball moms. For the Peewee league. Yeah. Dude, there's no all stars, everyone gets a trophy, it's all just for fun league. DD only played one season and I refuse to let her be a part of it again, for that and because they don't allow little boys to play still.

I'd almost say to completely ignore my previous anecdote about just being super nice to them to cut the tension, because they just sound like awful bitches, and totally not worth your time or energy.

At my DS school there are a few reserved spots that people win each year at a PTO silent auction. Those spots are golden tickets. We all look at the winners is awe and shoot daggers with our eyes at them at the same time.
I'm learning that "Mean Girls" exist at every age. It's probably the same people who acted like that in Kindergarten through High School. I used to work in a nursing home...guess what? Mean girls there, too! Ugh...I thought at some point we'd grow out of it!
I loathe morning drop off at my DD's school (elementary).... I think too many people lack common courtesy, and intentionally want to piss everyone else off (I try to deep breathe as I sit in the drop off lane aka chaos) . Didn't plan on screwing up your thread, but I feel your pain.
