DD was born in Thursday morning. We got out of the hospital yesterday and her bili levels are a little high so I am supposed to wake her to nurse every two hours. However she is so sleepy I can't get her to nurse! I've been fighting with her for the last hour.
Help! I am hoping there are some tricks you all have that I haven't tried.
My DD was a little jaundice, too. I would diaper change, put her to nurse and then unwrap her blanket, undress, and/or tickle or flick her feet until she woke to nurse. It's odd to get used to babies and their stubborn ways. Babies can also nurse when they are sleeping, so you can try that, too. May need to be a few months older. I used to "sleep eat" before bed which was great for her overnight sleeping.
Ditto cold wet wipes - on the chest, under the arms, behind the neck to really be effective.
In addition to the above - try a pea syringe if you're having trouble getting LO latching. The syringe gives a little instant gratification and encourages latching.
