No advice, but just curious, how often were you nursing when you weaned? We're down to 1x a day, and I'm (naively) expecting it to be a piece of cake when we actually wean, although now I'm worried that it wont be.

When I weaned, I first weaned off the pump, pretty much cold turkey, from pumping 3x a day at work. I was in pain and rushing home to feed DD (nursing) for about a week, and then it got better. Maybe two weeks. Not very long. This was mid-February. We nursed am and pm for a few months, and before naps on weekends. Then quit the naps and am feeds. By April, we were down to at night only. Giving that one up at the end of May was nbd. I wasn't in pain or engorged at all. I know she was still getting milk out though, bc I'd see it.
Then, my boobs completely deflated. Sad sad sad. Then they started to feel back to normal, and I bought new bras in September. Then I got pregnant again at the end of October, and they instantly got huge again. Now to repeat the boob saga all over again...
Yeah going from 3x a day to 0 is too fast, that's why your boobs hurt. If LO is still asking to nurse, I would wean slower. I think Kellymom recommends going no faster than dropping 1 session a week. So drop 1 session today, another next week, and the last the week after that.
DS was 2 when he weaned, and we weaned a lot slower than that. Dropped 3 sessions over the course of 8ish weeks, he held onto the last session for about 3 weeks. And my boobs still hurt! I took kellymom's recommendation for sage tea, 1 tsbp of sage in 1 cup of water, 2-6 times a day. I did that for about 4 days and the itching annoying pain stopped.
I went a lot slower. I dropped a session each week until I was down to 1. Last week I did every couple of days. Yesterday was my first day stopping and still I feel okay. Maybe you could pump to relieve a bit of the pressure and then slowly drop off the pump.
