I started 50 mg of Zoloft 9 days ago for PPD, my main problem I am trying to fix is anxiety which leads to insomnia. (I did manage 5 hours of sleep last night, yay!) I have started to feel better but not 100% yet. I have a few questions. My ob said it takes up to two weeks to be effective, but I am being impatient. When I took it after I had DS I feel like it helped more quickly.
How long did it take the Zoloft to be fully effective for you?
If you had to increase your dose, when did you talk to the doc about the increase?
If you went to therapy as well, was that helpful? What kinds of things did the therapist help with?
did you drink any while on Zoloft? The idea of a small glass of wine is so appealing to me, but I am a bit scared to drink any.

I can only answer the drinking one. Ha.
I do have a drink now and then. Usually not more than one, but I have gotten drunk once (Halloween party.) I am on a really low dose, but I didn't notice that I had any problems with alcohol.
Talk to your dr if you feel like you need more help. It can't hurt to ask.
I've been on zoloft since 2008 so my memories are a bit foggy! I know that I started on 50mg and I felt better at 1 month, but not fantastic. At that point we doubled the dosage, and by 2 months I really felt like myself again.
as for drinking, I have a low tolerance. Once glass of wine and I am flush and sleepy, the zoloft does accelerate that a bit. 2 glasses and I am drunk. Eating food while I drink does help.

I'd say 3 weeks. I immediately felt better, but I think that was a placebo effect and I was just feeling relieved that I was finally doing something to improve the way I was feeling.

I never changed my dose.

I never went to therapy, I felt like my PPD was managed nicely with the Zoloft.

Oh, you bet. I asked the pharmacist and she said drinking on Zoloft was fine. I enjoy a few drinks on the weekend, and have not had any issues due to Zoloft.
