So now that I am hopefully moving and the closets are much, much smaller I have to purge A LOT. I currently live in a 3 story townhouse with larger rooms and a walk in closet.
That got me thinking. How long do you hold onto things? Is there anything that you just will not toss no matter how much it doesn't get used or how long it has been since you have worn it?
I used to go through my things every 4-6 months and bring at least a few garbage bags to Goodwill. It makes me antsy when I have too much "stuff".
I came to MN with next to nothing and am already getting antsy by the kitchen items my parents are donating to me. Like, where will I fit it? Do I really need this? It's hard to say no to free stuff I might need someday. I get anxious. Maybe because I'm used to being a nomad.
I always keep my books. always. It's easiest for me to purge clothes and shoes.
I hate having things...lol. I am the anti-hoarder and love running inventory room by room and pulling out stuff that has to go. My kids are even starting to pick up my habits as they will bring me toys, games, clothes that they don't use anymore....it is glorious.

I'm a big fan of purging. Clutter bugs the hell out of me! I probably purge once or twice a year by going through closets and donating things. I might have a garage sale this spring/summer. I say get rid of whatever you haven't used in the last year. You won't miss it.
Also, I have a good laugh when I try on clothes and think...when on earth did this ever look good?!

Happy purging!
My youner sister and I had a fashion show a few years ago with all my old clothes that for some reason I was hanging onto. I think we both peed our pants a little from laughter.

If I haven't worn it in a year, I purge it. There are a few expections, like if I KNOW it was a steal, I love it but can't fit into it but can't bear to get rid of it, etc.
If I haven't worn it in a year...there's a strong chance I'm not going to wear it again for a reason, so I purge.

I purge all the time. I feel weird when I feel that I have way too much stuff (plus my closet is tiny).
Clothes? I keep wearing the same things over and over so if I haven't worn something in like 4-6 months it will get donated. There are some people that we know that really need the help so we ship it all. DD is the same and she will go through her toys and clothes and says that maybe someone else might play more with those. Until she goes to her dad's and comes back saying how much she loves having mountains for toys.

I'm a big purger, I do it at least twice a year. It feels good to cast off unneeded stuff, like PPs I am a clutter hater.
The only thing I will always hold on to is the small box of the kids' baby clothes/hospital bracelets/etc that I will someday make into a quilt or something. I'm really struggling with kid art lately. I love it all so much but I hate keeping stuff!
