This has gotten absolutely insane. Like, I would be embarrassed to post a picture of all of their toys, and there are still more boxed up!! I boxed some up a couple times "to rotate" and never did because I think there were still too many out. So I was thinking about leaving the basics out (kitchen and food), cars, blocks, and having a tub for each day of the week. End of the day throw everything back in and switch. It's the only thing I can think of aside from selling the majority of the toys, and I hate to do that because they still play with all (most) and the ones they don't play with are you get that ruby will one day. How often do you rotate if you do? I thought about rotating again because the preschool talked about how they have different toys out every day.

I think the problem is that l and f were the first 2 grandchildren on either side so everyone has gone freaking insane with toys. Every holiday I ask people to please not buy toys and get useful stuff that we need, but noooooo. I think I at least have that taken care of for their bdays. I think at this point rotating would be easier than trying to keep it clean because there are so many toys in such a small space that they don't play with most and it's to the point that you really can't clean them up! Throwing the days worth of toys in a tub sounds heavenly compared to what it's like now.
Not really. We have some toys downstairs in the living room and others upstairs in the bonus room. We still haven't gotten the bonus room set the way we want, so we don't spend a lot if time up there.
I do. But I rotate them out every month or so. I just get sick of picking everything up every night. So I have like 2 big tupperwares of toys that are in a different room and after a month or so I dump those in her room and fill them back up with different toys.
Yes, but not everyday. We have a small attic crawlspace right off the playroom that I cram as much as possible into and then rotate every month or so. I did get rid of 90% of the plastic noisy shit recently and I trash anything slightly broken. I have bins under our bed with toys in them that come out for an hour or so occasionally as well. I think I'll be doing a big purge again next month.
Sort of. I switch out what is in the open bin that he visually sees all the time and what gets put away in the toy box. We also moved some toys to the basement and we only go down there to play 2-3 times a week.
I kinda do but not really intentionally. He has some in the living room and some in a toy box in his room. I'll reorganize the toy box sometimes and toys from the bottom will end up on the top. Other than that, no.

The more I think about it the more I think I'll try it and see what happens. That way some of the toys with little pieces can stay together instead of getting buried in the pile. It's so refreshing to think of only having a normal amount of toys strewn on the floor.

Evan "rotates" them on his own, meaning he will go through a few days playing with the same toys, gets bored and then pulls out a bunch of other ones. They're all dumped in the toy bin in his room. Not very organized and it's driving me insane. I would love to purge but I keep thinking I should save stuff for the next baby. Ugh.
I do. I pack up random toys in a tub and then switch out toys about every 3 or 4 wks. I just write on my calendar when it's new toy day. She hates me packing the old ones up but it's the only way to keep our house picked up. She loves to see new toys though.
