This is something thats been bother me for a while and all these NT posts have me even more curious.
I had my NT scan and inital blood work at 12 weeks. They said I wouldn't hear anything about the bloodwork because I had to have a 2nd draw at 16 weeks. So at 16 weeks I had more blood drawn. Asked about the results from the first draw, said they wouldn't know anything until this blood had been processed, which takes 2 weeks. Nurse said I would get results at a/s, 20 weeks. (I'm 17 now)
Has anyone else not heard any results of the NT bloodwork until 20 weeks?
I tried to pry into this as much as possible saying I though it was normal to hear around 13 weeks, but no dice. FWIW, my ultrasound results were normal, but i don't know if this would have changes anything time wise.
I had the NT scan at about 13 weeks, and I got the blood work results at my next appointment, which was around 16 weeks. Then they drew more blood for the second tri screening around 19 weeks and I got those results at my 24 week appointment. I never called the doctor to check on the results (although I've heard the same thing as you, that it's typical to have results within 7-10 days) but they definitely told me at my appointments!
I had my blood results back about two weeks after it was drawn. I got the results back in the form of "odds" of different abnormalities -- this combined the measurements from the u/s, the results of the blood work, and my age. Usually my clinic doesn't call people back with results unless they indicate that there could be a problem, but I made them tell me the results over the phone (as I mentioned in a previous post, our measurements were on the high side so I was really nervous about the overall odds including the blood and my age).
I've only had the first round of BW and the NT scan. I just had my next dr appt yesterday, and she just said "everything looks normal." I'm actually glad she didn't give me a run down of all of the tests and what the odds are, because I'm sure I would google and over-analyze. This kind of forces me to either relax and trust her, or be that person who demands the real numbers. So far I'm relaxing and trusting her, and I'd be surprised if that changes. I'm really happy with my prenatal care so far and I trust them to tell me if there's anything I need to know.
My practice operates under the no news is good news policy. I signed up online with LabCorp, so I get a notification every time something is uploaded to my account. I saw the initial results from my first set of bloodwork on LabCorp's website, and it was broken down into risk from the u/s measurements, my age, and bloodwork. At my 16 week check up yesterday, my doc just said the results looked normal. I only knew the specific numbers because I looked online. I go for part 2 of the bloodwork next week, and the doctor did say they would call either way after the final results are in after approximately row weeks.
hmm...well, hopefully they would have told me if something was abnormal from the first blood work.
One more question. A lot of people on my BMB were quoting their odds of different abnormalities, were you given that information?
If I hadn't been on here I never would have known about this information, but now I feel so out of the loop that I never received it.
My practice doesn't give you that information (odds) unless there is an actual concern. Otherwise, no news = good news. This is their policy on all tests, other than the cell free fetal DNA tests.
They had my bloodwork results when I went in for the N/T ultrasound, so I was given combined results (odds) at the end of that appointment. Then the 16 week blood test was done by itself, so I just got my results (just "all fine," no odds) at my next appointment.

Wow, if that's possible, why isn't this standard procedure?!

I'm not sure...I was told that that was the standard procedure at my practice, which I was very relieved about. They had the blood results a few days before the ultrasound, but don't share them in isolation.
I did my blood work about 2 weeks before the NT Scan. We had to results when I did the scan. My doctor & genetic counselor said they needed the blood work & ultrasound together in order to give us results. We went back to the doctors office, he plugged numbers into the computer & gave us the results.
Are there different regulations by state? I was confused how some of you got results of your NT scan without the blood work back.

That's nuts, gerber.
Fwiw, I would be calling constantly until I got an answer. But I'm kind of annoying like that. This just seems egregious. There is enough to worry about without their withholding results.

Thanks. They've been forthcoming about everything else, so trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
Btw, I'm so sorry about your news today and really hope that further testing results in positive news for you.

I heard back at 18 weeks. My process was similar to yours, with a redraw at 18 weeks. I didn't realize it wasn't common until I came here and saw that most people hear back soon. I don't know why some practices take so long, it's really a PITA.

fair enough. Hard to keep being patient about this stuff. I hope all is well.

I think it was about a week later. They never called with the second blood test and I found out the results were normal a month later at my next appointment. The two tests were done by different providers.

Same here. They did the bloodwork at my 10 (ish?) week appointment, and had results at the NT appointment. After the scan, we met with the geneticist to review the scan, bloodwork, and the combined odds with the two. I also just got the blood results in the mail this weekend, so I guess it took a little over a month to get to me, absent the appointment with genetics.
I have my NT scan and blood work results 2 days after my scan (blood work was the same day). It was amazingly quick, especially for the NHS.
I was also surprised at how quickly I got my results back, we had them the same day. We basically waited an extra hour and a half at the hospital for them and got to discuss them with the same doctor who performed my scan. Score one for the NHS!

I would call, just to check on what their policy is for future reference, too. My first appt included a meeting where they went overvall of the appointments and tests, and that was when they let me know that they will give me any test results at my next appt unless it is something that needs immediate attention.
