Why don't any ads for pregnancy tests show negative test results? I think every single one I've seen is a "yay, I'm pregnant!!!" ad. What about a "yay, I'm not pregnant ad?" I'd bet more women buy pregnancy tests hoping they're not pregnant, that's who these companies should be marketing to!
Actually, the women who buy the most tests are the ones trying to get pregnant. They buy a ton of them. They test too early, then again, then again...just to be sure. Every month. Just visit a TTC board. I was one of the gals long ago and that is the market. The gal who is late once and praying she is not pregnant is not where the $$ is.
That said, the tests at the dollar store work just as well so I wasn't a sucka. But, they may not be as sensitive (although I would argue that) so the gal who really wants the earliest result pays the bigger bucks.

I got my 2nd BFP at 10 days DPO with a dollar store test. I think they are extremely sensitive.

I produced a fake tv commercial in my advertising class in college for First Response. It was done to be funny....
The camera is far down a long hallway and is approaching the door at the end of the hall. Just as you get to the door, the door flys open and a woman in her mid-30's with curlers in her hair and bathrobe with the stick in her hand screams a very long and dramatic , "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" She then collapses on the floor crying and a male voice over comes on and says, "First Response. When you really need to know."

I got an A.
Sooo...was she upset that she was, or upset that she wasn't? Or was that the whole point of the add...one size fits all? LOL

Re: 'I want to be a mom SOMEDAY but not right now' - I'm disappointed that it's still so completely unacceptable in our culture that a woman might JUST want to have sex and NEVER want children; that in order to market with a 'yay, I'm not pregnant' message they have to add the 'someday I want them' qualifier to reassure viewers that the woman wants to bear children eventually, so she isn't actually a monster or a whore.

I thought about that immediately when I first saw that add too. Its like OF COURSE she wants to be a mom someday...thank goodness for that! I was annoyed too.
