and we had to call the police...
So long story short, I just met with a woman who was looking to plan a baby shower for her daughter. This lady was a little impaired by something and she made me feel un-comfortable. Like, her speech was a little slurred (not horrible, but bad enough), the way she was walking was not 100% and she was certainly not 100% with it. It could have been that she had bene drinking, or it could have been medication, or perhaps she just has a medical condition. At one point she took her phone out of her purse to pull up the calculator app and couldn't figure it out, so she gave up and was like, "oh..my phone is not working".
As she left the building, she side stepped the two front steps, and then we saw her trying to get into my co-worker's car (they do look kinda alike though). My co-worker called the non emergency line of the local police station and told them....but we could not figure out what to do and she drove away. I feel like this all happened so fast that I was kinda in shock we were not sure what to do.
Ugh...I hate this whole thing. Part of me wonders if I should have questioned her on how she was acting? But then again you'd hate to offend someone who could have just had a stroke maybe? If she seemed worse I would have not let her go, but she was questionable.
A police officer came to my workplace to ask me a few follow up questions and I feel like he was judging me for having let her go. I feel ill over this.
Update: oh my gosh.... My receptionist was just like, "Cynthia (not her name) is on the line, she wants to apologize for missing her appt. yesterday". I was like, " " So I pick up the phone and I was like, "Hi Cynthia, it was nice meeting with you yesterday, do you have follow up questions I can answer for you?" She was like, "um...I was there yesterday?" So basically I tell her that yes, she did tour the facility yesterday, liked the room and put a date on hold. She was like, "I do not remember ANYTHING from yesterday, and I do not remember driving". ::HOLY SHIT:: She told me that she blacked out last night and had to go to the hospital and they referred her to a Neurologist. She wanted to make another appt. to come in and do it all over. I had to be honest with her and I told her that she did not seem 100% to me, but that I do not know her and so it is really hard for someone to know what is going on.
Give yourself a break lady. It is so hard to determine those things on a first meeting. Did you give the police her contact info? They can do a welfare check.
Don't blame yourself one bit for this situation. You did the right thing by calling it in. Are we going to get an update on this?? Or will we forever have to wonder? I want to know what her deal was!

Don't blame yourself one bit! You called as a concerned citizen, and now it if the cop's job to follow up and check on her well-being. You totally did the right thing. Please don't beat yourself up over this!
What if you HAD tried to stop her from leaving? If something was up with her, she could have hurt YOU.

I just feel guilt that we 'let' her drive away even though she seemed off. She is holding a date for her prospective event, so we'll see how she sounds if she calls back to request a contract.

My co-workers think she was drinking...
If she was really that sloshed from drinking, I bet you would have smelled it. But who knows! Keep us updated if you hear anything please!

Omg musiclover!!!!! This is craaaazy. I am so glad she is getting checked out. And your instincts were right on, not drunk but something was off. Poor lady she must be terrified.
OMG that is so crazy!! She is so lucky she didn't get into a serious accident. Hopefully she gets this figured out before she drives again. I wonder if she was just on drugs and trying to cover for herself or if she has a serious neurological condition going on.

So she just called again and asked if she had given me any money yesterday, I told her no. Then she asked if the room I showed her has any windows.....Guys, I had to tell her that room is floor to ceiling windows.
