Dh owns his own business so he makes his schedule. But, if he doesn't work then no income comes in. He will take a few days here and there and then try to get home early. My mom is planning to come and cook us dinner for the first 2 weeks. i know this is a c-section and I have been through 2 before so I know what is coming.
When I had my first c-section it was an emergency, last minute. I got home from the hospital on Sunday with my DS and my DD was 2. My Dh left for a full day of appointments on Monday morning. My 2 year old was a huge help while I recuperated.
Not really sure yet...He will probably have 3 weeks vacation at that point, but I kind of don't want him to take 100% of it. He does have the ability to work from home for a bit though too, so I am pretty sure he is planning on doing that as well...I'm guessing he'll end up being home for 3 weeks to a month maybe?
With DS it was a bit strange. DS was born on the Thursday night, DH took off Friday. Then went to work half day on Monday (it was Christmas Eve) and then was off for the rest of the week and then went to work for 1 day and was home for 2 days. And then went back fully. It was just that time of the year that hardly any leave was needed.
This time he is not taking any paternity leave as it is reduced pay, but rather annnual leave. he gets 28 working days paid annual leave and we not going away this year. A lot will depend on his college schedule though. DH is a part-time student and his classes start back up in September and while he can miss work we don't want him to miss college. So his bosses boss has already okayed him to take his annual leave when baby is born, but how much we not sure yet. It could be anything from a few days to a few weeks. (He gets paid time off to go to college and for study days as his work is paying for his studies). And my mom will be here from 2 weeks before the baby is born until around 6 weeks after. So DH might only take some leave then?
I am not worried about when he does take leave though. He is a very hands on dad and helps out around the house a lot so even if the new baby and I just stayed in bed all day he would not mind (not that we plan on doing that).
Well the 1-2 weeks we originally had planned is turning into 6 weeks. DH is pissed at his boss. He said you know I have the leave coming so why not use it. He asked HR for a packet on how it all works, so we are waiting to get that. We need to make sure we can afford for 2 of us off 6 weeks. The thought of having him home daily for 6 weeks is stressing me out a little. I'm worried we are going to fight with that much time together lol.

It could be made more affordable if he takes some of it when you go back to work... Save you a month of daycare costs if he took off 2 weeks at the beginning and 4 weeks when you return to work, for example.
We were planning for one week but I had an emergency c section so we had him take 2 weeks. I really needed the help. Sucks because he has to use vacation time and he only gets 2 weeks and 4 days in a year of that.
