There was a post about this awhile back, I believe. The people who had used them said the fumes were very, very strong and to do it on a day when you could leave windows/doors open and be out of the house. I don't recall the feedback on how durable the finish was. I know professional refinishing is ~$400.

I looked into it and a lot of people online said it didn't hold up to regular use. The professional refinishing was way expensive too, so I declined to do it.
Thanks. The little bit I've researched all talked about the fumes too. Not sure I want to deal with that when we only have a little vent window in our bathroom!
We tried it, because we knew we were planning on getting a new tub in a few years anyway. It held up for about 3 years, now the bottom is chipping. The finish only started coming off when we started using a bath mat, and is only coming off under the mat. I think it was a combination of the suction cups and tub cleaner that's making it peel.
I wouldn't bother if you want it as a long term solution, just get a new tub.
Well we are selling our house & thinking of doing to to make it look a little nicer. It isn't bad, but there is some chipping on the bottom because it is old. Just not sure it is worth the effort or not!
I wouldn't do it. I'm still super pissed at the previous owners of our house...they painted everything. The tub and the tile surround as well as the tiles that go half way up the wall in the rest of the room. The tub started chipping after a year or so and look so gross until we finally paid to have it redone professionally. That looks great so far but it's only been a year.

Don't do it if you just doing it to sell! That's a sucky way to "refinish" the tub and surround tile. I look at it as a sleezy car-salesman type thing if you're just doing it to sell. Either get it professionally done or just realize that you haven't updated the bathroom and the price should reflect that.
ETA: Oh I see someone already pretty much said this...sorry to copy. We had that happen to us with our first house and it didn't hold up and I was shocked and pissed to see crappy pink/gray tile where I thought I had bought white.
