Today will be pretty busy. The plan is to remove the large IV line from his neck, get rid of the pacing wires, and move most of his meds to oral ones so he won't be connected to so many lines and machines. We're going to try to get him to walk a little this afternoon.
They have brought in some specialists to try to figure out what's going on with his muscles. The good news is that the number that shows tissue breakdown had come down some with his last set of labs. Fingers crossed, it will continue to do so. The docs want to rule out it being another autoimmune issue.

Out of the ICU
Forrest made it out of the ICU yesterday evening and has been walking laps around the floor. He's really doing great. We've been very fortunate with recovery so far because the VAD (the device they implanted last August) let him go into the transplant pretty strong.
There are no big plans for this weekend--it's usually relatively quiet on the weekend. There's been some murmuring about releasing him early next week. If things continue at the rate they're going, it shouldn't be a problem.
Much to Forrest's dismay, his school books made their way to St. Louis yesterday, courtesy of Gran and S. Pretty sure Forrest would've rather had another IV started than to find that out. lol.

It's been quiet
Which is wonderful. No new news, Forrest is getting up and around both more and easier. He's already complaining to be released.
The cardiologist said this morning they're aiming for letting him out Tuesday. Cross your fingers.

After lots of last minute testing and checking and re-checking, Forrest was finally released late yesterday.
Right now he's enjoying sleeping in for the first time since all of this started.
He has to have blood work done in the morning, but other than that, we're free until his first biopsy on Monday. If the biopsy goes well and doesn't show any signs of rejection, we'll be released to go home to Memphis some time next week.
** Forrest's Amazon list is out of date, but I'm not sure that it's a priority right now to get it updated. I think the main thing is helping the family with the mounting medical costs.
