Are any other little ones traumatized by haircuts? You would think we were literally plucking Gavin's hair out one by one with how he acts. I'm at a loss.
We typically go to a family friends salon, so someone he knows, and even with suckers/iPhone/bribery he freaks. We're attempting a new place this week, one geared towards kids in hopes that it may help, but if anyone has advice/tips, we could greatly use it. I'm dreading this.

Andrew's not a fan, so I can sympathize. I HIGHLY recommend going to a kid-specific place, if no other reason than they are FAST and used to unhappy kids. We bribe with snacks and my phone. It helps, but doesn't make everything okay. We just go fast and hope for the best.

X hated it and screamed the entire time. The place we went to was for kids so the staff were really good and patient with him. He sat in a little car and had a tv screen with cartoons infront of him. I'm too scared to take him back and he deperately needs a hair cut!! I wonder if it would go better now that hes a bit older? Good luck!

D has has 8-10 cuts so far, he's hated every one. We go to a kid friendly place and I hold him in my lap. We used to use scissors but the clippers are way faster and it doesn't change how much he hates the cut so that's what we've done the last few times. He squirms so much that he's usually covered in hair when we leave, I usually just bring a clean shirt and if he rips the cape off oh well. I cut H's hair (buzz cut #3, nothing fancy!) so we've been having him watch us lately and I'm hoping that helps.
My friend says her son was about 2.5 before he stopped freaking out, hopefully there us light at the end of the tunnel! Good luck!
Last time I got William's hair cut, the lady would say things to him like, "no be a good boy, don't wiggle." It pissed me off because he wasn't moving that much at all and it was at a kids salon, she should know how to deal with it. Hopefully you get someone who acts better than that with him.
I do it myself because I'm afraid of the tantrum that would ensue.
Does he sit for you? I took Caleb to the salon because I don't think there's a chance he would sit for me. He still screamed, but at least he was somewhat contained and. I was able to be the extra pair of hands.

I have a cup of water, a comb, and my shears. I put on something I know he will pay attention to, and he sits on the floor in just a diaper. He does squirm a bit, but he's good for the most part. Afterwards, I just vacuum the floor.

We tried to take Linus one time this past winter. He was sooooo excited about his new haircut because we watched the bubble guppies hair cut episode. Got there and no freaking way. He completely freaked the fuck out. Would not even sit in the little plane/car seats at the kid's hair salon. Tried to have him sit in DH's lap and DH could not physically restrain him. So we left and were THOSE people. So I've been kind of cutting it since. I feel like it looks funny though and I don't know what to do to it. :/
Crap. I'm hoping the novelty of a new place and a fun chair plus a sucker or some form of bribery will work, but I'm almost positive we're going to be those people. Hopefully she'll at least be quick.
