We just got pushed back a couple more weeks. We were stalled because of some stuff they did in the dining room and foyer that weren't in our plans. We are getting built in china cabinets in dining room out of it so not a bad deal! But it was still very frustrating and I wanted to rip my hair out.
Good here! Drywall is up, driveway is getting poured today, we're still looking at August 15th but the builder seems confident it will be sooner than that My ILs house is delayed though, their hardwood hasn't showed up so that's frustrating for them.
Our closing was delayed when we built by a week because the power company took forever to come and do the final hookup. You would be surprised how many set backs you can have and still close on time.
We started last October and we're still not done. lol.
Our goal was to finish in May. Now it looks like it will be September. It doesn't mean it will be over then though since some of our lights are on back order. We won't move in until everything is done to our liking.

We started building in August/September and we still aren't done either. We thought we'd be done by now too but it's looking like another 6 weeks at least.
Dori and Reils, are you guys building custom homes or those ones that are built mostly the same( I don't remember what it's called). It seems crazy it's taking so long!!

Custom. Some (if not most LOL) of the delays are because of me. I analyze everything and want to have the final say on everything; well 99% of things. Example, I delayed framing so I could take my time going over the plans and visualizing every room, every corner, every etc. I drove DH crazy with all my layout revisions. Even after framing started, I still moved walls/ceiling.
We waited 3 excruciating weeks for the framers to show up....they had another job to finish before they got to us. We are about 2 weeks into the framing process and they are now working on the trusses and roof. I can't wait until its done, but it's like end of October for when it will be completed. However, I'm loving the building process and how picky we were with the floor plan....it's coming together exactly how we wanted.

We are building custom. We are doing most of the work ourselves and we live in the middle of nowhere which seems to make everything twice as long.
We also started in the fall. We'll be applying for our certificate of occupancy at the end of this week ro beginning of next. The only big thing that needs to be done is the inside banister on the stairs/loft. CANNOT WAIT!
We're working on the electrical right now. I say we very loosely. DH is working on electrical and I'm shopping
DH is building our house himself (with minimal things hired out: roof, insulation (foam spray), HVAC and drywall). We started in May and need to be done by next May. Our bank only gives construction loans for a 1 year build term. I'd like to finish as soon as possible to take advantage of the low mortgage rates - we'll do a construction of traditional loan modification when finished.
