I am actually going there in Jan with my parents & brother on a 19 day cruise (leaving out of Buenos Aires). Anything you highly recommend seeing while there? (besides Penguins of course)
I assume you are talking about January 2015? We are going then too! I would wonder if we are on the same boat but we are out of Ushuaia, not BsAs, so sounds like we aren't?

Def do the kayaking option!
Also we found our boat was very warm inside, like too warm. I wished I had regular non warm clothes to hang out in
I am ALWAYS warm - always. I travel with a mini fan on cruises but I will let my parents know.
I just noticed you were in Houston too -- what airline did you fly to Argentina? Did you do direct or connecting? The flight is the part that almost made me say NO. I don't do well on planes.

I am always cold, and I was warm. Really warm. People were walking around in shorts inside the boat

We're going on Holland America cruise lines.
We were on a small Russian research vessel, so holland America boat should be better lol
I posted about going on my trip before i left, and people asked me to post pics after I got back.
I flew to Buenos Aires, and we were there for 2.5 days. Then flew to Ushuaia, Argentina (southern most city in the entire world). We got on a boat (Russian research vessel that holds 120 passengers). We crossed the Drake passage (roughest seas in the world)-it was so rough you had to hold on with two hands to stand or walk. It took 1.5 days to get to the northern most part of Antarctica. We made numerous landings in antarctica, went kayaking, and I ran a half marathon there too! It was the toughest race I have ever done (took me 1 hour 20 mins longer than my normal time). We saw LOTS of penguins, whales, seals, ice, etc. It was a BEAUTIFUL trip and amazing!
I honestly had no idea that people traveled to Antarctica unless they were part of some research team. I definitely didn't know there were such things as half-marathons there. Wow.
CRAZY INSANELY JEALOUS!! Except I would be sure the boat would sink and I'm sure would irritate the crap out of my fellow passengers. But the penguins! My former neighbors lived in Antarctica for a period of time as government contractors. They said it was an amazing experience.
