I posted about going on my trip before i left, and people asked me to post pics after I got back.
I flew to Buenos Aires, and we were there for 2.5 days. Then flew to Ushuaia, Argentina (southern most city in the entire world). We got on a boat (Russian research vessel that holds 120 passengers). We crossed the Drake passage (roughest seas in the world)-it was so rough you had to hold on with two hands to stand or walk. It took 1.5 days to get to the northern most part of Antarctica. We made numerous landings in antarctica, went kayaking, and I ran a half marathon there too! It was the toughest race I have ever done (took me 1 hour 20 mins longer than my normal time). We saw LOTS of penguins, whales, seals, ice, etc. It was a BEAUTIFUL trip and amazing!
It sounds like an amazing trip!! How did you plan that? Did you go through an agency?
Marathon Tours offers this trip once a year (marathon/half marathon in Antarctica). The expedition company (company who runs the Antarctica part is One Ocean).
So cute (the penguins) and awesome (the trip)! How are you only wearing a short sleeve shirt? Isn't it cold?!
It was their summer time and that last day it was sunshine and no wind (which is super rare, and the wind is what makes it colder). I think it was 37 degrees or warmer that day. I just stepped outside on the deck to take the pic, and wasnt really cold.
