I'd find a way to sue someone. I don't know who or how... but even if it went nowhere, I'd love to publicize that you don't have to completely abstain from alcohol if you wish to breastfeed.
I probably would go to jail in that instance...ultimately, not for breastfeeding my kid under the influence of a couple of cocktails, but for throatpunching that busybody waitress.
Though I suppose she could be lying about the "just two beers" thing. It's not like she is going to be like "yes, I did have 5 Long Island iced teas then nurse my infant." I wouldn't advocate for her arrest regardless--just putting it out there that none of us really knows which resident of the fine town of Toad Suck is telling the truth.

WTF... Way to make criminals out of mothers. There are studies that suggest that very little alcohol passes to BF babies and that the impact is not identifiable. I remember one in particular some one posted here a while back. I have a real problem with this, because it puts a high, unproven burden on a mother, and is likely to dissuade people from BF. My son never took a bottle because he wouldn't, and BF for 15 months. Mostly, I didn't drink until he was in bed, but he never slept more than 2-3 hours until 11 months. You never knew exactly when he would wake up. The exstention of this is that you can't have a few drinks and care for a child, which is completely false. I feel like the "right" way to do things has been taken too far, to the "perfect" way, and the perfect way can suck a lot of joy out of parenting.

Legit WTF - they really need to cut the fear-mongering on this subject.
While we're on the subject, what's with the advice that an "occasional drink" is okay? The books generally suggest 1-2 per week. What's the difference if I have a drink every day, versus every few days? Does.not.compute.

OMG. Since when do you arrest people for "things that may be bad for their children's health but are not yet proven to be a problem." ARREST THE PIZZA BABY PARENTS!!!
The only reason I avoided drinking much while nursing was because I read a study that said babies may consume slightly less milk after a mother had been drinking and there was no.effing.way I was risking my sleep for DS to wake up hungry.

Hmm. I would drink a beer while breastfeeding. My OB and NP said that's a good time to do it because by the time it hit my blood stream the kid was done eating. And then it was out of my system by next feed with that timing.
