DH got into the NYC marathon this year! It's been on his bucket list forever.
The race is Nov. 2nd. We'll have a 2-week old baby then. I can't go and see him I'm so disappointed that I'll have to stay home.
But I'm so glad he'll be able to do this, he's wanted to for so long and it's all he's been talking about.
Also, he didn't tell me! My computer is broken so I came on his and he had the "congrats! we will see you Nov. 2nd!" email open from last night. I was sleeping by time he got home but he didn't say anything this morning! I'm going to have to yell at him tonight, lol. Maybe I'm more excited than him?

How fun for him! I think you can follow racer's progress live online using their bib number, plus it's usually televised. Not quite the same as being there, but better than nothing.
That's awesome! I got in this year, too, but I'm deferring until next year. Ain't no way I'm going to be able to train with a newborn. Good luck to your H!

Congrats to your DH. I would not assume you will have a two week old though. You could have a 4 week old (or older) or you could still be pregnant or have a 2 day old.

True. So going off my EDD I will have a two week old. Either way, 4 weeks or 2 days, I can't go
I did, however, think "what if I'm two weeks late and I go into labor that day!?"
That's awesome! Send a few people to cheer him on throughout the race and take pics.
Eta!!!! Make signs with the baby's pics for them to hold!
How cool! I was thinking of taking a photo of him holding his kid when he returns (or before he leaves?) in his running gear. Does everyone get a participation medal? Can take a photo with the baby with the medal, too.
What a cool thing, though, new dad and now running in the marathon you always wanted to run - all at once.
So I'm at work now (I have night duty in the library until 7:30) and am texting with H. He said he had a bad day at work. I said sorry to hear and asked if he had any good news? He goes "no new news".
DH is running it, too! Our baby will be about three months old by then, but I won't decide if I am going to see him run until the date is closer. I have no idea what kind of temperament my child will have, but if he/she is chill, I will try just popping the baby into a carrier to stand on the sidelines.
No, no way he will be deferring it! He was just telling me two days ago that he is anxious and can't wait to figure out if he got in. We both know the date of the race and that I'll be at home with the baby by then.
Do you think he would change his mind?
He's not a very excitable person and keeps things to himself all the time. Even when I got my BFP (again) he refrained from any hint of excitement. So I'm not surprised. But I'm trying to pull it out of him.

I wish mine would be a little older! He does a lot of races and when we were dreaming of kids he said that it would be cool to run a race and see his kid cheering for him along with me.
I guess we'll have to wait a few years. lol. A few of the 5Ks he does around town usually has some little kids running as well. I would probably run them with the little guy/gal while he does the race for time.

It is really, really unlikely that you will still be pregnant 2 weeks overdue. Unless you have a very hippy midwife. Congrats to YH, that's pretty exciting!
How exciting! I watched it for the first time last year. I was just amazed watching those people run. Some of them made it look like a walk in the park. I would love to run a marathon in my lifetime.
