Our nanny is going on vacation in a couple weeks. We've lined up someone to watch the kids for us for the two weeks she is gone. She is 18 and lives at home. She has no car, but she lives near my work. She will watch the kids from 8-5 every day, and we will be leaving one of our cars with her during the week. We told her she can use it even when she doesn't have the kids in the evening. We will comp all the gas... Even if she uses the car on the weekends/during the evenings.
So, how much do you pay per hour? She'll be at her house. Not ours.
I'd expect her to watch the kids at YOUR house where things are childproofed and safe, kids toys are there, and, given that she lives at home, you KNOW all the ppl coming and going in your own home in a way you don't at hers.
How many kids do you have and what are the ages? I'd expect $10-12 hour?
This is going to depend where you live. How much do you pay your nanny per day? I would consider just paying that and ditto on her staying at your house.

The nanny makes 13 an hour. (this is high for our area. My sister nannies 2 and makes 10 an hour) I'm not concerned about safety. Her mom has an in home daycare out of the basement.

I would probably just agree on a lump sum for the 2 weeks, rather than an hourly rate. I'm not sure how much I would discount sitting fee because of the car use. How likely is it she'll use it? I know I probably wouldn't.

I pay the nanny that I occasionally use $12 an hour to watch my kids at her house. She does not have a car, but is an adult. Sometimes, she has just has my kids, but often her own child and another,, I pay the same ether way, since I need her. I pay most sitters $15. Sounds like you live in a less expensive area though, since a nanny here is more like $15-$20 an hour.

She is using it that weekend to drive to some 'resort' with her friends.
I would pay her a little less than the nanny, since she is using your car for personal use, and she is not a professional. Maybe $11-12/hour? I'd also ask her what she charges in case you are vastly apart in expectations :-)
Not that you asked, but I would not let her use the car for non-work stuff. Also, I wouldn't let an 18 year old drive my kids, so I wouldn't let her use it for work either.
I'd pay $11 or $12 an hour based on the rate for your nanny.
I can't believe you can hire a nanny for $12/hour.
There is no way in the world I would let an 18 year old use my car for a weekend jaunt with her friends. You're not Hertz. That said, I'd pay her what you typically pay and since you've already agreed to it, pray she's more responsible than I was at that age. A weekend at a resort to me at that age would have definitely included a lot of drinking.
