One of my bf's just told me she's getting married in Jamaica next April @ the Hilton in Montego Bay! (woot!)
Luckily, my brother & his wife were just down there a couple months ago for a wedding/their honeymoon, so I've been able to talk to him about the island some. They stayed @ Beaches Negril.
Anyway, any info or suggestions you can pass along will be much appreciated!! TIA!
We went several years ago and stayed at Rockhouse, which is in the cliffs area of Negril (so not on the beach). The hotel is fantastic, although I gather it's gotten bigger since we went. We really liked the food and found the people to be very friendly. We were offered pot pretty much constantly as soon as we set foot off the hotel property, but nobody was aggressive about it and they left us alone after we said no. I get the impression that Montego Bay can be very busy with the cruise ship traffic, so it might be a nice balance to staying there for the wedding.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

I love Negril. Love. My mom and step-dad have done Montego Bay and they prefer Negril for the same reasons as pp. It's much more commercialized and touristy. The only thing I would like to do next time we're going through is stop at Margaritaville and jump on the giant trampoline.
While in Negril, we stay at either of the RIU's. They're actually located on Bloody Bay and it is much quieter and calmer than being on Seven Mile.
