I posted a pic on IG but a little girl full on bit Delaney on her cheek at gymnastics class. Ugh!!! They were doing stretches and the girl just walked up to D "hugged" her which caused them to fall and when the mom pulled the girl off D had a full set of teeth marks on her cheek and was crying so hard I feel so bad'! I was right there but didn't see she was biting!!!! I was on the other side. One dad told me he saw her bite and pull back and he could see her skin pulling
The mom was freaking out and said she's never done that before and the mom was in tears because she felt so bad. She kept apologizing and I didn't know what to say- I didn't want to just blow it off like "oh it's okay!!" So I just kept saying "okay..." Then she followed us to the coaches room where were cleaning it and put ice on and just kept talking to me! I just wanted to be left alone to comfort my child!!! She did punish her daughter and made her leave class. It didnt break the skin but it's definitely going to bruise. ugh! I feel so bad.
This picture was taken about 1.5 hrs after it happened
Abby got bit in preschool once, but it was kind of her own fault, because she'd been being really aggressive toward this one girl, and the girl, I guess, got tired of it. The parents still made the girl make her a little "I'm sorry" card, which made me feel bad.

This happened to Juliana by a kid much bigger than her when she was that age, which then caused her to be the worst biter in the history of the world. Poor D!
Ya for whatever reason this girl was out for D. When we first walked into class the girl tried to hit her and this happened just a few minutes into class. D was literally just standing there I'm also afraid she's going to try and bite now but I hope she won't because she realizes it hurts. She just keeps saying "that girl bit me. That girl not nice"
Aw that's a bad one. Poor D the mom was probably so embarrassed, which is why she kept talking to you.
I know- she said a million times "I'm so embarrassed! I feel so bad" but at the time I just needed to focus on D and try to calm her. I was definitely overwhelmed too.

Yeah, I totally understand. When things like that happen I just want to be alone with my kid.
Ugh, biting sucks. I'm glad it didn't break the skin. Poor D. At least the other mom wasn't non-nonchalant about it, but I get you wanting her to leave you alone.

Yeah that sucks, Lila got bit at a children's museum a while back. It was heart wrenching. She kept saying, "that's not nice. don't bite, it hurts"...It was on her finger and she bruised pretty bad. The mom of the kid who bit was also really embarrased and made her daughter apologize...I think if she hovered over me, I would've socked her in the face.
Sorry D is hurting...I hope she feels better soon.
A was pinched on the cheek about 6 months ago and all I saw was rage. The girl was no where near her mother in a store. It was a terrible experience and left me shocked. She had a bruise for over a week.
Aww that's a shame. Poor D! My heart goes out to the other mom too. Toddlers pull crazy shit and it's usually out of our control as we all know. I hope her little cheek heals quickly. She got her good.

Same here. My nephew will pull stuff like this and it makes my sister feel terrible. It's so hard being the parent of the biter/hitter/kicker as well as the one on the other end of it.
I admit I likely would have responded the same way as the other mom. C goes to preschool and I always worry that he will hurt someone. Toddlers are crazy. Actually yesterday at pickup a mom got a report that her son had been bitten but thought initially that her son had done the biting. She was so apologetic (you don't find out who is on the other end) but then realized it was her son who was bitten and she was actually relieved.

I know! I wasn't mad at her or anything- I wasn't even "mad" at the little girl- she's 3 for goodness sake, I was just overwhelmed at the time and upset that D was hurt. I know it wasn't the moms fault.

I would have been in tears too. I'm sure she was beyond embarrassed especially because it was during stretches and everyone was in a circle watching. When I text Ian and told him he said he'd probably be in tears out of guilt/embarrassment too.
ETA: and I'm the type of person who says sorry way more than necessary so I probably would have been doing that too. Sorry if I made it sound bad- I'm not a mean person! Haha I do feel for that mom, just at the time I needed some space.

I hope D heals quickly! Ouch!
G has been on both sides of this too at daycare. I definitely feel worse when she bites than when she's bitten, but either way is rough. Feel better soon D!
