I ate some leftover salmon for dinner that had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. Big mistake, but I'm not used to this finicky pregnancy stomach! The salmon is not sitting well. I kind of wish I could puke and get it over with. Is there anything I can do to make myself feel better, short of sticking my finger down my throat? (I'm not that desperate.)
Thanks FastHands. I have both of these things on hand, so hopefully they'll help. These (admittedly minor) pregnancy-related digestive issues are completely new to me. I experienced heartburn for the first time a few weeks ago, and when not pregnant I never feel like food "doesn't sit well." So now I'm like "WTF is going on here??"
Sucking on a peppermint or cinnamon candy helps me.
Also, holding my left thumb in the palm of my left hand helps alleviate nausea. Sounds weird as heck, and I have no idea why it works, but I saw a discussion about this online somewhere and it totally helps me.
This wasn't a food safety issue. I don't have food poisoning, I just felt queasy.
I thought fish was only good for about two days in the fridge, then could start to get iffy depending on circumstances. It's the "depending on circumstances" that I'm always overly careful about.
Huh. That link is super general (I got the mobile version though ). But that's why we have a sense of smell, and it usually works pretty well. And why it gets accelerated when pg.
It smelled fine. I'm not sure why you're assuming that because my dinner didn't sit well, I must have poisoned myself.
