I'm not sure I dealt with any sticky tape, so I'm no help on that one. My OB mentioned the steri strips falling off on their own, but I only had one that did. The others they removed at my 2 week post-op checkup. I literally didn't even know they were doing it. It was absolutely painless. I don't remember washing the area really well while I still had the strips (that sounds gross) but I do remember having to dry the area with a hairdryer so that it wouldn't be moist and be a breeding ground for bacteria (again, gross). As for the numbness, sadly I'm still kind of numb. It's one of the first things I asked about and I was told that it would never fully go away. I'm not sure if its just gotten better or I've just gotten used to it, but I don't really notice it anymore. I also have this ridge around my incision that I was told wouldn't go away either. On a positive note, my scar has really faded over time and its barely visible now.
I think I used rubbing alcohol to get rid of some of the stickiness, but I'm not sure. A few of my steri strips came off on their own in the shower, but the nurse took of most of them at my 2week appointment when I think they removed the staples. I was scared to mess with the area too much until my staples were out. I feel like the numbness was less noticeable after 8 weeks, but it still feels kind of numb sometimes.

I was in the hospital for a week, so they took the steri strips off before I left.
The sticky stuff was a pain in the ass! I used witch hazel and it helped a little bit. Mostly I just had to scrub. It did take a long time.
As far as the numbness, I got used to it. After a few weeks, I didn't even notice it anymore. On the plus side, almost 2 years later and there is a very tiny scar. Barely noticeable.
I think I had glue instead of strips so a different kind of weirdness. As far as the numbness I think it was almost totally gone by 6 weeks if not before if i'm remembering right. It feels completely normal now!

I had my husband clean it and take the sterj strips off. The hospital gave us "wipes" to take the tape reside off and he slowlllllllly took the sterj strips off.

My ob took the steri strips off at my first visit around 1 week pp. Until then I was told to let soap and water run over it or lightly wash with fingertips after I got home. At the 1 week appt she told me I could start cleaning a little more. The tape reside just came off in time as I felt more comfortable washing the area. I've pretty much always had numbness there since Linus so don't really know what's normal with that.
My dr said to leave the strips on until they fell off. Um no. By day 7 they were nasty so I just pulled them off after a shower. It really didn't hurt as bad as I had expected. It was a while before I really scrubbed. Maybe 3 wks. Prior to then, I just had soapy water running over it.

You got it back in a few weeks. I get random patches of numbness and twinges even now. Around my period a lot. It doesn't bother me but I just notice it.
I pulled the strips off after a shower and used rubbing alcohol to get the sticky off. I was told to gently wash the incision and dry with a hair dryer after. I still have some numbness and it bothers me sometimes.

Lemon juice works well for sticky residue. I never have had numbness issues. It is going to vary by person on where they cut, stitched you up, and how your nervous system in that area heals. Definitely keep it clean and dry.

I used alcohol swabs for the sticky. The steri strips fell off on their own in the shower and were gone by 2 weeks PP. I'm still numb I dont remember when I washed it really well. Maybe once all the strips fell off? I remember the shower water hitting it hurt like a bitch.

I was told to leave the steri strips on until they fell off, which took about a week. The home care nurse who came and took the staples out gave me some wipes to take away the sticky residue.
I just washed the area lightly with my fingertips using soapy water for a few weeks. And I don't remember feeling the numbness, so it must not have lasted long either time. I do know my cut is a bit higher than normal because they needed to get B out quick, so that might make a difference.
My steri strips came off on their own after a week or so. The stickiness will go away soon too.
At 2 years out I can finally say that I am no longer numb around the incision site.
Eta: I'd say around 6 weeks is when it was noticeably less numb. It is a very weird feeling!
About the same here. The numbness, stickyness, all that crap was super gross to me but all gets better! Except for my spare tire that kind of hangs over the incision site. Then again I haven't really exercised that hard to get rid of it or anything
Congrats, Gisa! She is so cute. (I don't remember if I told you congrats or not yet but I don't think I've seen Baby Greta until now)
