Now that I have a full month under my belt I figured I would share my experience. This is our 7th month TTC so I wanted to add something a little different into our regimen and see if that changes anything. I have had 4 rounds once a week. The place I go to is a "community acupuncture" and basically it means you can get a hugely discounted rate (I pay between 15-35$ a session vs 90$+ if you go private) because it is group based. I was a little weirded out by that but it is totally fine.
Basically you go into a large room with recliner chairs spread out. Other people are receiving treatment at the same time but you are far enough away and everyone is in their own zone sleeping or relaxing with your eyes closed so it doesn't even phase me. The practitioner comes over to you discusses your goals again and puts the needles in strategic places based on what you are looking for. For fertility their goal was to increase blood flow to the uterus and clear any blocked energy channels. I had needles placed in the top of my head, arms, legs, feet and abdomen (pre-ovulation).
Ill be honest and say that the needles did pinch and I felt them. The first session they placed a blanket over me and every time I would move the pressure on the needles sent shooting pains and I was pretty miserable. Now I don't use the blanket anymore and try to avoid lots of movement and Im fine. I bring my headphones and listen to music and chill for 30 mins (minimum they say) up to an hour. Then the acu comes over takes the needles out and I'm on my merry way.
I would say that I noticed way more wet and ewcm this cycle compared to past cycles. I started acu at the very beginning CD2 I think, ovulated on CD 18/19 and now I'm on CD30 so we shall see if it produced the ultimate result I'm looking for pretty soon.
All in all I would say its pretty cool to try but I don't think I would be wanting to pay the fee unless it was community acupuncture again since that could have been an extra $400 a month compared to the $70 or so I spent. I did not find it relaxing really but Im not the type of person that can just fall asleep easily especially in a public place. But it was nice to have the quiet time for a hour a week.
Any questions let me know-Im new to it but open to alternative therapies and happy to share my thoughts.

Thanks for sharing! My H has been encouraging me to look into this (he goes to an alternative healing center for various aches and pains that he has) and we are onto cycle 7 also. Perhaps once we settle down financially after buying our house I will try it out.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Thanks for sharing! I have been thinking about this or other alternative treatments just to see if it helps. I mean, at this point it couldn't hurt right? Hope it works for you!
I just posted about acupuncture on TTTC, so this is very timely for me. Did they share information on success rates? In other words, do they say it helps the very first month you do it, or that it needs to be a regular thing? My issue is that it seems like there is no way to know if it actually helped. If I do it and it works, it could be total coincidence or it might not be. And if it doesn't work, does that mean it was not helpful or that I should keep going because it doesn't work right away?
I tend to be skeptical by nature, but I'm really interested in learning more about it.

The place I went to doesn't advertise or specialize in fertility. I just noticed it was one of their conditions treated so I wanted to try it out. I always wanted to see what it was like. The accupuncurist said it usually takes about 3 months of weekly treatment to get cycles regular, blood flow etc. Thats why I couldn't justify paying full price and loved the community model.
I agree with ya the results are probably anecdotal at best and could be coincidence. I don't know if I'll keep going the other 2 months since I didn't really like it that much-but some people are such fans they go weekly with no goal to fix anything it just helps them relax. We all know TTC is not relaxing lol so if nothing else it could help that. Best of luck w everything
This is really interesting, thanks for sharing. I hope it works for you!
I didn't realize community acupuncture was an option, can I ask how you found it?
I was just googling acupuncture for fertility/fertility massage and came upon 2 clinics that were community models. I had never heard of it and was so excited to see the hugely discounted rate compared to private practitioners. I figured I would give it a shot at that price.
I just wanted to pop in and thank you for posting about your experience! I had never heard of community acu, but researched it after this post and there was a place less than a mile from my house. I went last night, and I LOVED IT. So relaxing!
