I've been trying to think of small ways I can decorate the nursery (not going all out since we're selling the house next year, but want to do something fun to decorate a little bit). I was on etsy last night, and found a couple of things that aren't related at all, but are 2 things H and I love, but I'm not sure if the 2 things in the same room would be stupid. The 2 things are our dogs (we have a black lab and a yellow lab), and motorcycles (sport bikes, not harleys).
I found an etsy seller who does dog prints - she has a really cute yellow lab print and a really cute black lab print, and also a rhyme print of "snips and snails and puppy dog tails are what little boys are made of" with other dogs. I found another seller who does "transportation" prints and has 2 great vintage motorcycles prints that you put on either side of the child's initial. I really like both ideas, but I'm not sure if these 2 kinds of prints would be stupid in one room since they have nothing to do with each other. I would probably put the motorcycle prints and initial above his crib, and the dog prints on the other side of the room.
The prints aren't really large - something like 8 by 10 each. Should I choose just one theme and go with that, or could I pull off both sets of prints on different walls of the room?
(of course if I get the initial print with the motorcycles I should probably figure out the kid's name first )
I don't think that's dumb at all! I'm not big into themes personally so I may be biased in that sense but I love the idea of filling the room with meaningful fun things that you guys like regardless of if they match each other perfectly. As long as the overall vibe has the same feel I think it will look nice--like I wouldn't do one giant black and white motorcycle print and then a small earth toned dogs print in the same room, but it doesn't sound like you're doing that. I say go for it!
I think it sounds fine, but then again, I'm also incorporating my dog into the nursery, lol.
I'm having my artist neighbor paint a watercolor portrait of my dog to hang above the crib. I thought I was the only weirdo, but it's good to see I have company.
I think it sounds AWESOME. I never thought about incorporating my dog into the nursery but now I am off to google this for inspiration. I may end up with an underwater/dog combo LOL!
