That's what I learned last night when we were there for an hour.
Baby decided to take an extra long nap during kick count time. I only had 5 small movements in 2 hours so I called and headed in at 9:45 pm. Got hooked up to the monitor and it took about an hour, a large cup of ice water and 2 fruit punch juice boxes to wake her up. They finally saw the two heart rate spikes in 20 minutes that they wanted to see and I actually started to feel her moving for the first time in a few hours.
Aside from everything being okay, the doctor did an u/s to check my fluid which was normal but on the low side AND all my fears of hearing "whoops it's actually a boy" have been squashed because the doctor got a clear shot and said "oh yeah, definitely a girl."
((hugs)) sounds like a long night. Make sure to bring a robe/sweatshirt next time you go. I am going to keep this in the back of my mind. Hospitals are always cold.

And warm socks! I was wearing sandals and even with a sheet over me, I was cold! I had a jacket but took it off before I got into the bed.
catsarecute what is up with the hospital sheets any ways? I used to work at a hospital and had to sleep there when it snowed and let me just say hospital sheets are no bueno. They are like paper and do not keep you warm at all. I hate when places only give you a sheet. It makes me rage.
Thats funny, not like haha, but strange funny. Here our maternity hospitals are kept really warm for the babies.
Same here. I did the maternity tour a couple of weeks ago and it felt like a sauna :/ I would love a nice cold maternity ward because I'm hot natured normally and cannot imagine trying to push out a baby and not pass out from over heating!

My plan is to labour in a hospital gown and then change into my summer pj trousers and a nursing cami with one of those hoodies with short sleeves (for modesty). Although once you have given birth your body temp does drop a bit.
I know - they're almost tropical. I liked it with DS2. I was in for 3 days after and I tend to be cold a lot so it was a nice change.
I had to do a double take when I saw your name pop up on this board. Are you expecting?
Yes. Almost 7 weeks with #3. DS1 will just be 5 and DS2 22 months when this one *fingers crossed* arrives.
Going to be some expensive airfares! I think we're about to cut way back on travel. Just home once a year with free company flights and maybe one other trip.
Congrats @bandwife! Nice to have another UK-er (is that even a word) on board. That will be 4 of us, although VillainV had her baby this week. And yeah, airfare will be a killer.

I will probably end up laboring stark naked lol I honestly cannot stand the heat. But there are windows in the rooms, so maybe I'll be able to open a window until the baby is actually born and then shut it so she doesn't get too cold.

You guys have no idea how happy I am to hear this. I am always cold, although if this summer is anything like last year's I may indeed be too hot.
I had DS2 in January, used the birthing pool, it was cozy warm. Really nice. I am always cold here and it was so nice to labor comfortably in the pool in just a bikini top. Closest I got to a beach vacation last year...
