I currently have about 40% BND, 40% VTI, and 20% VXUS. Thinking that's a little too high of a BND proportion and I need to rebalance.
This money is outside of retirement and cash e-fund and not earmarked for anything specific. It was in my Cap One 360 account doing basically nothing before this.
Our non-retirement investment account is 50% VTI, 50% VXUS. We have it with Vanguard to avoid transaction fees. We have significant retirement savings that are more diversified (and theoretically less risky), so I don't mind the lack of bond funds. DH and I are both 30.
I don't do ETFs bc it's just easier to buy Vanguard MFs the way my account is set up. But I am trying to move toward a simple:
Vanguard Intermediate-Term Tax-Exempt Fund (VWITX) (I use total bond market in tax-sheltered accts) Vanguard Total Stock Market (VTI) Vanguard Total International Stock (VXUS)
I aim for 30% of my stock holdings to be international.
