So for my second run in the past few weeks, I've had to make a bathroom stop during my 5M run. Last night it was five guys and I was so sad since one of yur buds went missing during my bathroom break.
I never have this problem on my morning runs since I down lots of coffee before I go. But with a longer evening run (over 3 miles) I find this happening.
Any tips on what to eat to so I can go during the day as opposed to in the middle of my run?
is it every run? this was happening to me periodically and then I realized it only happened on days I ate popcorn, so I cut the afternoon popcorn snack.
it also might just be an issue of timing your afternoon snack, lunch, etc. properly.
unfortunately, this is just a trial and error sort of thing. you'll eventually find a pattern and figure out what works for you.

Not every run. But I do find myself having to go at the end of my 3-mile runs, but luckily I'm at home so it doesn't matter.
I usually snack on wheat thins and raisins late in the afternoon and then have dinner around 5:30-6, then run at 7:30.

I find this happens more often during the summer due to heat. Can you eat a heavier breakfast and a lighter lunch? I find broth based soups for lunch work the best. Salads or anything high fiber, not so good. Also, hydrate well throughout the day.
I usually run a mile, stop at home to go to the bathroom, and head back out. (When racing I use the porta johns after I warm up) It is a pain, but I have potty anxiety when I run.

I haven't had pooping problems, but I had some cramping issues, and eventually i figured out what causes cramping. I just stopped eating those things before I run. I eat my last snack about 2hrs before I run.
"safe" snacks for me are: whole wheat toast whole grain english muffin cherries grapes
I'd call the raisins and wheat thins likely suspects. maybe try cutting one and then the other to see what happens?
as an evening runner I find it is better for me to have two snacks, one around 2PM another when I get home from work ~5PM(in the summer this is usually something with salt like a feew tortilla chips or pretzels), run, and then eat dinner. this means dinner is served between 730 and 8 PM in our house.
I don't know if that would work for you with the kid/family dinner/etc. I'd try switching up the afternoon snack first. maybe have some non-dried fruit?
