Full size bedding doesn't fit DD's new bed

Is this normal?

DD's bed came last week (it's a full size, the boxspring is low profile and the mattress is 12" deep which i've read online is standard now?) I got her new sheets and comforter today and both sheet sets that I have just barely fit (the fitted sheet can't be pulled underneath all sides of the mattress and the flat sheet just lays, it's not wide enough to tuck down under), and the comforter could stand to be at least 12" wider (it's long enough but only comes down maybe 7" on one side, and not even 2" on the other).

I've had that problem in the past with our full bed. I think that we have the 600-thread-count Fieldcrest sheets from Target (I know they were from Target!), and they are deep/wide enough.

For our next comforter I might size up to a queen. The one we have is big enough but I wish it were a little bigger.
