I feel like we need a complaint thread up in here! Today is pissing me off, and I see it is messing with some of you fine ladies today as well.
I drove to meet my friend for a morning run. It was later than usual, because I don't have work today (Yay!!! right?) and I get pulled over for speeding. And, it was right on the beginning of a downhill, so I got pulled for going 15 over! I actually had been watching my speed because I just saw someone else get pulled and I was all, "whew, better watch it!" but I was still speeding like 5 over before the hill and then..yeah. The cop wrote it up for the full amount, so it was 244 DOLLARS. OMG. Oh, and the kicker is that since I was running, I didn't bring my wallet, and got a citation for not having my DL, too.
I could go on and on about different little things that pissed me off about the whole thing, but the worst, absolute WORST part about the whole thing is that it is my own. damn. fault. I can't legitimately be pissed at anyone or anything else. Fuck. What a waste of money.
I don't know exactly what that means. I quickly googled...is it to spread out paying the ticket? I'm legalese stupid.
eta: @cse1960
not to spread it out, but to avoid prosecution altogether. Most places have such a thing; if you have an ok traffic record, you can ask to have prosecution suspended (or judgment withheld; different places call it different things) for a period of 6 months or a year or however long they will agree (here its 6 months) and if you stay out of trouble for that time period, they drop the ticket entirely, and it does not appear on your record. At All. You pay a fee, that is usually less than the ticket cost originally, and it does not appear on your insurance either. Also, if you have a license, but just forgot it, most places will drop that ticket if you go down and show them that you have a current license and pay $20 or so.
Hmm, okay. thanks. I was actually going to the office today to show them my dl to drop that ticket. I will ask about it. I have had tickets before but it has been a couple of years. Can't hurt to ask!
We were supposed to fly out to a warm sunny climate this morning. Instead, I am stuck in my house in near blizzard conditions, after being up all night fighting with expedia about rescheduling. Our storm is supposed to last until about 2 am....if a plane can't land at 11 pm, there will be nothing to fly out in the morning, and then we are fucked. There are no seats on anything until Monday afternoon. We only had until Wednesday as it was. I hate Mother Nature.
Today I've cipped a tooth and lost $40 at the atm. Our winds are crazy and blew my receipt away. After scrambling to grab it, I then realized there was no money, so I don't know if the atm sucked it back in because I was looking for the receipt or if the money blew away as well. I searched my purse and car to be sure I didn't grab the money without thinking.
The teller said I can dispute it after the transaction posts tomorrow, but what the hell. I've been using atms successfully for fifteen years, and feel like a complete idiot today. I ugly cried on the way home, although I think its because I have lots of pent up feelings from bigger problems that are going on. The teller probably thinks I'm a crazy person.
I am seriously losing my fucking mind. I am so stressed out at work my anxiety is off the chain.
I am currently sick over a joke I made to my friend/coworker about it being raise day. We don't get big raises because we get good bonuses so it's funny how small it is. And now I am freaking out people overheard my ballpark statement about how I could splurge on a $15 lunch and not feel it thanks to my raise. Like they might not have gotten a raise or it might give them frame of reference for what I got... But seriously jaylea?
This is not something to be concerned about, right? I didn't even say it loud. I am losing it.
I'm trying to get back into work for my job and they want ALL THE THINGS. NOW. Uh, dude, I'm a little overwhelmed as it is. I'm .2 seconds from putting in whatever remaining time off i have/can borrow against and saying forget it until I get home. Except that will leave work hanging and deadlines will be missed. blech.
Otherwise, I'm in a perfectly foul mood and everything can go to hell.
I'm sorry. You would think they would give you a little leeway here.

It really isn't. Truly, let it go mama. Deep breath.
My parents' dog is dying. He's lived a long, long time for a lab and the last year has really been a slow decline but it is just sad. He is the sweetest soul. I think we might have a few weeks left with him and I want to do something special. I think I might take my camera over there this weekend and do some pictures. :-(

We had a plumber at the house yesterday fixing our hot water heater. It was working when he left yesterday but now we have no hot water. Cold showers are really awful.

I hope you can do it!
Update: the only option in my county is to go to court to ask the judge to withhold the points. Actually, on the way in a cop told me I could go to court and plead no contest and it would probably be reduced. I'm thinking I should just pay it instead of having to go to court/take off work.
FWP here- I placed my first order from Sephora this week as an early birthday present to myself. I just got a notice from UPS that it's stuck in Chicago and won't be delivered today. I will have to wear old makeup out with friends tomorrow instead of my new Naked 3!

I'd take the time off work to go to court - if you're able to get the points withheld, it will save you money on your car insurance.

I'm considering it, more for the off chance they'd reduce the ticket. I can take an online driving class and wipe off the points, which costs money (like 20-30 more dollars, I think) but then I don't have to take off work.

Yeah, the points would be my concern. I didn't have the driving class option, so I had to go to court to get them wiped off. The court messed up and entered the wrong code initially, so I saw what would have happened to my insurance, and the money I ended up paying for the ticket didn't even touch what the insurance premium increase would have been.

Can you ask what the points will be for your ticket kaybee85? In Kansas, speeding is 2 points and that won't increase your insurance with some companies. If you have an agent, you can call and ask them what the ticket would raise your insurance to if it raises it at all.
My dad used to do diversions or get his speeding tickets changed to non-moving violations for double the fine when at all possible. But he drives for a living and having a ticket of a certain speed can cause him to lose his CDL.

If I were you, I would definitely do what I could to avoid the points on my record. Yeah, it might be easier just to pay the ticket and not go through the hassle, but you can expect your auto insurance rates to likely increase.
Just my opinion.
If you had the option of just taking an online driving class to wipe the points, would you still go to court? It seems like the only plus of court is possibly reducing the fee, plus not having to pay (a relatively small) fee for the class. Ugh, still trying to decide.
This morning, my doctor left me a message to come see her before noon. I called the office and spoke with the receptionist, but of course, she said she couldn't tell me anything and that I needed to go in. I had an appointment earlier this week, but I don't really know what she could possibly tell me today. I had stuff to do this morning, including baking cupcakes with my mom and shoe shopping! Waaah. Lol

Hmm...I'd probably just do the online class. You still have to pay a court fee to be seen before the judge regardless of the outcome, right? So if I'm still going to be out some money (and let's be honest, going to court sounds like a total PIA) and I would have to do the online class anyway, I'd probably just pay the ticket. :/
Yeah, these are my leading thoughts at this point. Plus, I don't have like a crystal clean record. It's been like two years since I've had a ticket, but my record from college/right after...eesh. (all speeding lol, no DUI or anything really bad like that). I feel like the court fees/pia-ness of going to court, and then possibly the judge being like...Um, looks like from 2004-2009 you were kind of an asshole..so NO, full charge and points stand! lol

This happened to us when we had to be in Atlanta on a Thursday. Delta cancelled all flights and then there wasn't anything until Sunday but my friend's cousin got us on for Friday. Team mom ended up driving to the airport and got the 9 of us all on flights and all that arrived earlier than originally scheduled. Calling the airline did no good as thousands of others were doing the same thing.
