Nope it's not as fun. I always end up gravitating towards the girls section to shop for DD, lol.
I'm not a fan of "old man clothes" (i.e. vests, bow ties, khakis, etc.) on little babies, and don't like characters or bold graphics on clothing for any age. I gravitate towards anything soft and pastel. DS wears a lot of Janie & Jack, Gymboree, and Koala baby. I like RUUM for cheap stuff to wear for daycare, but I only shop their deep discounts. The quality isn't real great IMO.
I've found cute stuff everywhere: carters, old navy, walmart, children's place. Everywhere has some WTF stuff and some "classic" solids, stripes, etc. Lots of pajamas from Costco which are so cute DD is wearing them. Once Upon a Child always has a bit of everything.
I admit I'm far from a clothes snob, but I've never had a problem finding things that are cute.
I agree with Token. Every major brand has some WTF stuff and some "classic" solids, stripes, polos, etc. I buy most of DS's clothes from Carter's and Children's Place. Yes, Carters has a lot of surfing monkeys and mustaches, but some cute classic stuff too. Here's what's in my cart for my two year old (obviously not newborn sizes), I'm just waiting for a sale.
This is pretty much how I dress my DS. He wears mostly ON or Osh Kosh/Carter's, sans goofy characters or sayings. A lot of solids. MIL bought DS those shorts. IN WHITE. Then DH dressed him in them. On sloppy joe day. He has a rare talent, that man.
Today DS is wearing OK camo track pants (which I have in like 7 colors), a green St Patty's day shirt and green/gray running shoes. I think they're asics, but I'm not positive.
I think boys clothes aren't inherently cute, like to look at on a hanger and it's true that there is less variety, it's basically pants, onesies, tshirts. But I love putting ds in golf shirts and little button up plaid dress shirts. So adorable. And there's so much more variety in colour.
I don't dress the boys in character shirts or sweatpants type pants. These are the only kids I'm having so I don't care about keeping their clothes nice for the next kid
The majority of their wardrobe is Mini Boden, Gap, H&M, Zara, Petite Bateau and Polo.

LOL that is a rare talent. DH is terrible at dressing DS. Somehow he finds the oldest, smallest clothes that I keep in DS's dresser for craft/mud/messy days. I finally had to start hiding those clothes. DS owns nothing in white, NOTHING. Brought to you by an epic spaghetti day. I had to throw the shirt out.
After shopping for my two girls (and three nieces!) for so long, I love shopping for a boy now. I shop for him at the same stores I shop for the girls, mostly Gap, Old Navy, Carter's, and Gymboree. I do find less for him at Target than I find for the girls, though. I also don't like anything cutesy and typically dress him in stripes, plaids and solids.
@supergreen, I got those first two shirts for DS too!
KKD what did you think of them? Brighter in person than online? I'm seeing that complaint in a lot of the Carter's reviews. That the items are neon rather than the soft colors portrayed online.
Now you and everyone else is making me want to buy those clothes! Does anyone know when Carter's next sale will be? pugz?
@supergreen, I think they look as pictured to me. I did buy another striped tee that I thought was white and aqua/teal like the second shirt but it turned out to be royal blue. I don't know what happened there, but I liked it anyway.
