You should stay at Hotel Santa Maria Novella then! Haha we stayed there during part of our honeymoon 5 years ago and loved it. Great location, good value, huge rooms by European standards, and a great breakfast included. It was our favorite. Ohh they also provide the handmade soaps from the Cathedral.

How close is pretty close? We stayed in this apartment for our HM two years ago and it was awesome. It's about a 10 min walk to PSMN.

Hotel Bernini Palace. Wonderful, everything about it. Just stayed there this past May. I highly recommend it.

We just stayed at Bernini Palace too. The location is excellent, but it's about a 10 minute walk to Santa Maria Novella.

We also stayed at Hotel Bernini Palace for our honeymoon, and we loved it. It was really nice, (though we'd just spent a week in a fairly cramped Paris hotel room, heh), the bar in the lobby was nice after a long day, and it was close enough to everything that we avoided public restrooms the whole time we were there.
