Hi ladies. Sorry it's taken me a little bit to get this check-in started. I've never done any kind of check-in on a board before, so hopefully I do this right
1. Since this is our first check-in, I thought maybe we could do a brief introduction.
2. High (as in good, not as in high bs reading. haha) for the week?
3. Low for the week?
4. Any recipes/food ideas you want to share?
5. Any questions/topics you want to discuss in future check-ins?

1. Since this is our first check-in, I thought maybe we could do a brief introduction. Hi. Dh and I are expecting our first baby (a boy) this July. I was diagnosed with GD pretty early in my pregnancy and am currently controlling it with diet/exercise and oral medication.
2. High (as in good, not as in high bs reading. haha) for the week? I've been walking for at least 15 mins after every meal. I'm proud of myself. It is definitely helping my numbers.
3. Low for the week? My numbers weren't great for a few days. But my dr. recently changed my meds and that seem to be helping (along with the walking). So I'm feeling fairly hopeful.
4. Any recipes/food ideas you want to share? Not really. I'm not very creative. Hoping you guys have some good ideas
5. Any questions/topics you want to discuss in future check-ins?
Thanks for starting the check in. It looks great to me
1. Since this is our first check-in, I thought maybe we could do a brief introduction. DH and I have been together for 12 years, married for 7. We are expecting our first, a girl, at the end of July. I also was diagnosed with GD fairly early on, at 18 weeks. I had a couple risk factors including being overweight and older (31). Somedays I don't even think about it, and some days I'm not sure how I'll make it to the end.
2. High (as in good, not as in high bs reading. haha) for the week? I had an 87 as my fasting number this morning. That's amazing and unheard of for me, and had me literally jumping up and down in the bathroom at 6:30 a.m. Hopefully the trend continues! Also, I have lost 4 lbs since starting the GD diet which makes my weight gain a net of just 6 lbs since getting my BFP in November. My dr. is fine with the weight loss due to being overweight prior to getting pregnant, and said after I have the baby I will most likely weigh less than before I was pregnant. How's that for a weight loss plan?!
3. Low for the week? I've had some really shitty lunch and dinner numbers. I know from reading/research I've done that around 23-24 weeks there is a hormone surge so I"m hoping it's due to that. We are also in the middle of a remodel which is affecting the timing of my meals, what we are eating (eating out a lot), and the time I have for exercise.
4. Any recipes/food ideas you want to share? This week my dinners have included sloppy joes on whole wheat buns (I did one bun but about two sandwiches worth of meat/sauce mixture) with tater tots (12) and green beans; grilled chicken sausages on whole wheat buns (I ate one bun but two sausages) with leftover roasted potatoes and grilled zuchinni; pork tenderloin with roasted potatoes and salad; last night I ate out at Wendy's, had a spicy chicken sandwich with only the top bun, side salad with ranch and iced tea; and tonight I'm going out with a friend to a new deli and have no freaking clue what I"m going to order. I had okay but not great numbers with all the meals that included buns. So I'm pretty sure that the bun is spiking me. I do fine with sandwich thins, but actual buns seem to not work other than for some inexplicable reason, fast food buns. I can eat the whole bun at Arby's. Must be all the fat in the roast beef. I also do really well with tacos at Mexican places. I can even have a few chips with cheese dip along with the tacos. But white tortillas that are not the low carb ones I do not do well with.
5. Any questions/topics you want to discuss in future check-ins? I like the recipes/food ideas. I feel like I"m constantly trying to figure out what I can eat.
robyn Dh and I have been together for 12 years too! Married 9 this summer. I'm also 31.
Yay for a good fasting number I get so excited when I have good numbers. I'm always so pleased when I have a "perfect" day (aka all good numbers).
hillarywhitney It's like we're the same person!!! Not in a skin suit kind of way though, no worries
I'm so far 3 for 3 for today! Buuuut I'm going to dinner at a fabulous new deli downtown with a girlfriend to escape the construction zone that the lower level of my house has turned in to. I'm not sure I'll have the will power to resist their rye bread, but we shall see. Thankfully they don't serve dessert so I don't have to worry about having to pass on that.

That's awesome about being 3 for 3. Good luck with dinner tonight!

1. I have a 2.5 year old DD and now we are expecting a boy next month. With DD I had GD. With this pregnancy (since I had GD with DD) they wanted me to test early (24 weeks);took my 1hr GTT and failed then took my 3hr GTT and passed !!! The sad part is that they still wanted me to take the 3hr again in a month... so I did, and failed . And the reason that I am the most crushed about is because I won't get to go into labor on my own (most likely). ::sigh::
2. Um, GD related? I can eat a 12 piece (grilled) chicken nugget meal with french fries from Chickfila and be in range!
3. My fasting numbers suck so I'm sure I'll be put on glyburide again to control those numbers.
4. No but I read that dark chocolate and cinnamon are good for helping control bs so I try to add a bit of them to fruit or yogurt or whatever.
