So my cat was just diagnosed and we just got the meds yesterday. I read the directions and it said to wash hands afterwards or wear gloves. Then it dawned on me that this was just a hormone medication and YES I really should wash my hands no matter what because OMG I don't need thyroid hormones messing me up right now.
I thought I'd ask here though - if you had the same situation - did your OB or vet have a concern with you handling these sort of meds at all? Like, want you to have your DH medicate the cat instead? I'll definitely ask the OB at my apt. next week but I'll be handling it twice a day until then.
I haven't been in this situation, but I would probably just have my H do it either way. I could see the cat possibly spitting in it your face, on your skin, etc, and it's not worth it to take the risk (if the medicine is indeed that dangerous). Maybe you could call the vet or your OB to confirm?
