Do you think daycare providers should have kids cleaned up and essentially ready for parents to grab and go? And I'm talking about at 5pm and on.
I ask because at DD's daycare they have been having water time for the last few days when I go to pick her up. So it's 5p and my kid is in a bathing suit running through sprinklers. I just think at 5pm kids should be ready to go without me having to dry her and change her. sent from phone

Oh yes, definitely! I understand not having coats on inside in the winter-- I don't want my kid to overheat-- but they should definitely be fundamentally ready to go! ESPECIALLY if they have any sort of penalty for being late (ours is $4/min). If they expect us to be on time, they should be on time.

Oh hell yes. They should be doing things like that earlier and doing something that's easy to stop and leave from by that time. Plus I would be pissed if I had to spend the drive home listening to my baby cry because he wants to still be playing in the water.

Agreed. They don't have to have them packed and waiting by the door. But have their stuff all in their cubby so it's easy to grab, and have them dressed in clothes! I would definitely be frustrated by that.
We have our kids ready to go around the time we know that their parents come to pick them up. We don't do water play, but they usually have cleaned up from whatever craft they may have been doing, eating snack, etc. We prepare all of their things around 4 pm so they can just grab it and go when their parents get there (paintings, lunch boxes, etc in their backpacks).
If we're inside though they still have to put their coats (in the winter) and change from slippers to shoes before they leave (we don't allow shoes in the classroom, but this is the norm in Switzerland).
