Most of the advice has already been said, but I second niq on duplicates of important things. One of the biggest fights of our relationship was when DW took MY car keys because she lost hers - without telling me. I made her make us a spare set of keys.
We have a drop zone in the foyer with a dish for keys and wallets and a spot for purses and backpacks. It helps a lot.
When we first got married H constantly misplaced his wallet. We solved it (mostly) by getting a tray to put all keys, wallets, phones etc. Lately I've been misplacing my phone and H has been making fun of me.
I get that he has a lot on his plate. He works probably 80 hours a week. Still, I have a lot going on too and it makes me feel like I'm not respected when he asks me to stop what I'm doing to look for something that he misplaced due to his own negligence.
Will this change in the foreseeable future? Because H was constantly losing things, forgetting things (appointments, whole conversations) when he worked that much. But when he scaled back to fewer hours, things got a LOT better.
Also, once you figure out what kind of pacifier and/or security object your baby likes, I would advise buying at least a dozen. Adding a crying baby to the stress of "Where could it be?" is no fun.
I keep asking him to cut back his moonlighting, but it pays a good hourly rate and we really like the financial cushion. Someday, when he's practicing, I *think* he'll work fewer hours.
My H lost his passport the night before we were supposed to go to Mexico on an all expense paid trip. It was going to be our babymoon (I was 27ish weeks with dd1). We could not go.
So yeah, I feel you.
Mine had misplaced his passport before our trip to Mexico too! It was midnight (we had a 6am flight) and he was ripping the house apart because he was packing and suddenly realized he had no idea where his passport was. He (and me, I guess) was lucky I found it in some weird place. Sorry you missed your trip!!

OMG, I just got a phone call asking where his car keys are.
*bangs head into desk*
ETA: he left them in the basement. Why the hell are they in the basement??
And this is my H. Our kitchen scissors (the ones in the knife set) were missing for two months. I distinctly asked if they might have found there was to the basement for one of his hobby projects. He up and down swore that wasn't possible and blamed me for losing them. They reappeared last week, and guess where he found them? Yeah, on a shield in the basement.

MH uses our knife set's scissors for everything. They're not intended for that!!!!! We have REAL scissors, use those!!!!!
